The police report says his address is 7611 Kristen Drive, Oak Ridge. Google Map it. Nice place. :9f:

It's nice, but it's not the Taj Mahal. Only the front facade is brick. The kitchen has granite countertops and hardwood floors. The living room and dining room have hardwoods, too. I saw those pictures on zillow.com

They paid $268K for it in December 2010.

I don't mind the charges being dropped; the courts have better things to do than prosecute minor pot offenses. I DO hope though that someone keeps digging into those gifted rental cars. Just because he doesn't have to go to court does not mean that he should be on the court next year.

Bite your tongue! Minor pot offenses pay my salary!

We used to have a judge that apparently took the movie "Reefer Madness" way too seriously. EVERYONE with a first offense marijuana got the max, 30 days in jail (none suspended) and a $250 fine. Most defendants now get the first offender (diversion) program, which is frankly a big cash cow. There are a TON of court costs associated with them, and a spendy class to take, and if a person wants this dismissed, they have to pay for all of that before the matter is dismissed.

In all honesty, PJ's criminal matters were on the radar only because he plays Div I basketball. The one thing I hope is that the NCAA will actually pay attention to the rental cars, and not decide there's nothing to see because the criminal and traffic charges are no more. Frankly, I have no trust in the NCAA.

Native, y'all do remember the "puff, puff, puff, puff, pass!" cheer, right? :9f:

Eamonn Brennan agrees that PJ's (and Roy's) problems are not over.
There are some tricky legal questions left over here. The first is the issue of the handgun, which police have said was found outside the vehicle at the traffic checkpoint. None of the three men in the vehicle that day (Hairston, Carlos Sanford and Miykael Faulcon) have been charged for having the handgun, reasons for which are just as uncertain as whose gun it was in the first place. It is also not unfair to ask whether the state would have been as deferential in dropping charges were Hairston not a Tar Heels star. When you spend the morning trying to mentally navigate whether a report on widespread academic scandal led by a former governor was changed at the last minute to elide NCAA interest, you begin to see conspiracy -- or, at best, a wink-nudge-Go-Heels -- around every corner.
But here's the real problem for UNC: Hairston's legal woes were never the main concern.

Unfortunately, she's not the NCAA!

I agree with the Gifted Rental Cars!!!!

PJ was a first offender. Like anyone, he brought a current Driver License to court, and that charge was dismissed. And took a Drug Accessment class, like anyone else.

What do they teach in that class? How to access drugs?

I think he already has that information. Sounds like he could teach how to access drugs.

Someone who knows NC laws, please tell me this assessment thing isn't just a pee test. I'm sure PJ and his buddies know how to use methods to avoid testing positive for marijuana. :9f:

Oh, and speaking of buddies, are his passengers still charged with possession?

Apparently they still are as they have a court date in early August.

Doesn't North Carolina (in some counties).... have Drug/Alcohol Court? The docket gets so backlogged with these charges. The Lawyers can chime in on this.

Obviously, PJ made a mistake. Roy and Bubba will handle the discipline for his actions.

I am sure our friends at PackPride will have the ownership of the car figured out by the time I get to work tomorrow.

He obviously doesn't care anymore. I would think even ol Roy would have told him to live at the foot of the dad gum cross for a while, but a careless and reckless ticket doesn't fit in with that very well. :9f:
