Hope you guys are having fun! I'll be watching the game streaming on ESPN3 on a beautiful 78deg breezy day at Mystic Island NJ, sitting on the porch overlooking the water. Wish I were with you guys!

And a great time was had by all! Thanks for everyone coming and bringing some absolutely delicious foods, and to TNT, CB&B and Cowboy for lugging the grills in, and all the foods they prepared!

Next up for Brunchgate - Alabama. We, well our team, are going to shock the world that day and come away with a victory! And Brunchgate will be just as amazing - it's Pastrami-fest!

That was seriously enjoyable, folks. From the appetizers to the main courses and all the side dishes, too. From the desserts to the desserts, especially the blueberry pie slice I had after the game when I was still really too full to eat any more. Thanks to the regulars for leading the way and thanks to the new "members" for attending and contributing good eats, better conversations and, hopefully, friendships that will last year-round and for many Brunchgates to come. Y'all were great yesterday, and the FB was even better. Well, not really, but it was better than last year's opening game.

I do not like pastrami.
I do not like salami.
And neither does my mommy.
I'd rather eat edamame
than get caught in a tsunami
of pastrami or salami.

Then I'd consult the swami.
And order mahi-mahi.

(it wouldn't be too late to order some corned beef either.)

I had a great time! It was fun to see so many CTN people.

I had a wonderful visit with an old Duke friend who stopped by our tent. I met him during the first hour of my first day as a freshman. He had returned to campus this weekend with a carload of things for his freshman daughter. Funny, it doesn't seem like 30 years have elapsed. . .

Is there going to be any other kind of meat besides pastrami or corned beef?

There will be plenty of other foods available for those who don't like pastrami. I don't know what TNT and Chris and Cowboy are planning to grill or what anyone else is planning to bring, but no one will go hungry, of that I am sure. And DD, there will be some corned beef coming too. I do know that 4 pounds of pastrami and 1 pound of corned beef won't go very far - tastes or small sandwiches for all those want, but not much more than that. I've "ordered" a separate sandwich, with MY money, for taking home later.

Greatest hits of the lady behind CathyCA and me will have to wait until tomorrow. "You're a Phoenix, not a chicken!"

I will have to find a way to work that into conversation this week.
