Yeah, I was watching CBS's coverage, and exactly nothing showed up when the "SUV" hit the moon and we watched the video of the trailing satellite as it closed in, but again, until the signal was lost on contact, we saw nothing unusual. Not even a rapidly approaching surface. Hope the infrared and other scientific instruments got more information than we did on TV.CameronBornAndBred wrote:That was incredibly unexciting. I didn't see anything happen. Even the guy they interviewed said "I'm not quite sure what we saw there". Hopefully it looked cooler through someone's telescope.CathyCA wrote:I'm watching!CameronBornAndBred wrote:Anyone watching NASA slam a rocket into the moon? Happenes at 7:31 this morning.

I'm not a fan of this whole project. What if the little creatures living in the moon don't like having their door knocked in and come swarming out and attack. Never kick over the ant hill! Have we learned NOTHING from horror and sci-fi movies!

They had 30 something earth based telescopes, 4 'oribital assets' (including hubble) and one lunar orbiter all watching...I hope somebody saw something!

Prayers and vibes for Ronnie. A positive attitude with lots of prayers and vibes are very powerful tools. And vibes and prayers for his partner, family, and friends as they help him through this fight.bjornolf wrote:Vibes for a friend please...
I've known him for 18 years, and he's a dear friend of mine. I met him singing in the church choir when I was in high school. He's a bit older than I (mid 50s). He and his life partner took my wife in when she first moved up here and charged her a pittance for rent, mostly because she insisted. They were both groomsmen in my wedding. He's a good actor, very funny. I've done a few plays with him, but he does several a year.
Anyway, he has cancer. They haven't figured out what kind yet, but it's spread through his lymph nodes to his neck. Stupid Kaiser Permanente didn't take him seriously, or it would have been caught over a year ago. It doesn't look good. He's optimistic though, and he's gonna fight.
So, anyway, please send some vibes his way. His name's Ronnie.
Life is good!

I got my haircut today.
And I bought yarn. The two often go together as there is a very nice yarn shop right next to the hair salon.

Speaking of yarn...have you ever knitted with chiengora? I have a 'collection' going and will have it spun - wondering if it was any different than tradtional yarns.

Nope, sorry windsor, that's a new one on me. The yarn I bought today was a silk/cashmere blend. It's for a scarf (what else) for my friend Diane who won the Marathon donor scarf draw.
