Man, we thought our 9909 for 09.09.09 was impressive.

http://www.startribune.com/nation/58594 ... DEh7P:DiUX

Kid was born in Wisconsin at 09:09 on 09.09.09 and weighed in at 09lbs. 09oz. Impressive. They planned it that way and did a cesarean section, and I bet they fudged the weight a little.

Eagles here, though, as long as Vick is there, I think I'll be rooting for my second hometown team, the Patriots.
Go Pats!!!!!!! Son Andrew has decided to put the curse on Wes Welker this year though, he now owns a Wes Welker jersey. His previous jerseys were Ty Law - traded the next year and Bethel Johnson - traded the next year. Me? I have a Mike Vrabel jersey although the curse took 2 years with me. I'm still wearing it though, I love Mike Vrabel. I'll even root for the Chiefs because of Mike Vrabel. (Note to DinK, not against the Pats of course.)
Totally understand the rooting for the Pats over Vrabel. I had chefs season tickets for 29 years - still had a hard time rooting for them over the Steelers.

A good call, if I might say so myself. The Jackets win it 30-27 on a FG with under a minute remaining, after yielding 27 unanswered to fall behind early in the fourth quarter.
I really don't much like Climpsun.
I prefer the Tigers to the Tarheels.
Easy choice.

I'm a Steelers fan but probably don't have enough knowledge to debate anything with anyone.

My claim to fame: I got to meet Lynn Swann after the Steelers won their second Super Bowl. Spent about 3 hours visiting with him.
I thought you were a Chiefs fan!

My father-in-law has a picture of himself between Lynn Swann and Terry Bradshaw. He's met both of them several times. Actually, I believe he's been out drinking with them.

I was drinking with Lynn Swann also. :D I was a such a well behaved teenager.

I am sure you'd do fine in a debate!!!!

He was in Korea on a USO Tour. Since my Mom was also a fan, she and I went to meet him. The first night he stayed out past curfew so we met a movie crew instead. The next night we met Lynn Swann and James Harris (QB for the Rams). I think we ended up visiting with Lynn for about 3 hours in the bar at the local R&R center for the military. I tried to talk him out of his first Super Bowl ring since he was getting another one. He didn't go for it but I did get to try it on.

Biggest disappoint for me was that Jack Lambert, my major crush, went to see the movie Tommy instead of hanging out with us.

Anyone doing anything noteworthy today on this "Patriot's Day" (or otherwise in remembrance of 9/11/01)??

Sorry, it's not Patriot's Day, that's April 19th. Patriot's Day celebrates the start of the American Revolution. We currently celebrate is by running a really long race. The original plan was to set up the marathon to run from Concord to Boston, apeing the Brits, but the routes from Concord to Boston in 1896 were too convoluted to make for a good course, so the founders of the race followed the train/river west. And that's why the Boston Marathon starts in Hopkinton.

I think they are calling it Patriot Day but I'd prefer they come up with something else, Patriot's Day is taken.

As far as celebrating, I'll say a prayer for Pete Ortale and reread the monologue/tribute to him I wrote at the time.

Nothing noteworthy - personal remembrances of some friends lost that day

According to Wikipedia, which I know is not always correct, it's Patriots' Day, not Patriot's Day, that is in April. And according to Wikipedia, it moves around every year. Today is called PATRIOT DAY, as you pointed out. I agree that it's too close a word. We need something else. Besides, isn't Patriots Day whatever day they play the Super Bowl? ;)

I like just calling it 9/11. What more do you need?

I only wrote that cause the Wiki page made a point of that:

"Patriots' Day (sometimes incorrectly punctuated Patriot's Day or Patriots Day) is a civic holiday commemorating the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the American Revolutionary War. It is observed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts[1] and state of Maine[2] (once part of Massachusetts), and is a public school observance day in Wisconsin[3]. Observances and re-enactments of these first battles of the American Revolution occur annually at Lexington Green in Lexington, Massachusetts, (around 6am) and The Old North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts (around 9am). In the morning, a mounted reenactor with State Police escort retraces Paul Revere's ride, calling out warnings the whole way."

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriots%27_Day

Also according to that Wiki page, these are the recent and near future dates for the event:

* 2008: Monday, April 21
* 2009: Monday, April 20
* 2010: Monday, April 19
* 2011: Monday, April 18
* 2012: Monday, April 16

I had a hard enough time figuring out how to get digital pictures posted so I'm not sure I can get non-digital ones posted. I don't remember the ring being too heavy but I could spin it around on my thumb. :D
