What was Brokaw talking about when he said that?

Ashley MacIsaac was part of the ceremony. They now officially suck almost beyond redemption. For those who aren't familiar with him, MacIsaac is an idiot.

I thought it looked cool too but was on the phone talking to my parents and didn't get to see all of it.

Alright, enough of this crap - let's get to the lighting of the flame already.

Here's the deal...

Vancouver ceremony folks: just DON'T sing, alright? Forget it. Nelly Furtado, Brian/Bryan Adams. Joni Mitchell's BOTH SIDES NOW? I don't know. I'm thinking the 30yr rule applies, but ILJ liked it. Sara Maclachlan (sp?). Sorry. Ho-down Quebecois? No way. Just stop it already. I half expect Loverboy to start singing. I'm looking for my red headband.

Artistry, set designs, costuming, dancing, lighting... GREAT!!
Donald Sutherland narration... nice.

It wasn't a Quebecois how-down, it was a Cape Breton/Maritimes thing.

I generally agree. But I still think they should have invited Rush.

Rush would've been awesome! Same with Shania Twain.

The rest of it is just getting embarrassing now. Leave it to us to fuck this up...

I couldn't agree more. Actually, I think you were being too polite when you called it fucking dumb. Fuck me, finish this already.

Initially, Costas was talking about the fiddler's blue and white canoe, representing the province of Quebec. Thanks for the clarification...

So THAT was all we get to represent PEI? What a bummer!!

Would they just go ahead and light the flame already?

This speechifying is so boring.

Here's a bright idea: give 60,000 people each a stick and a drum, and see what happens.

That would NEVER work in the U.S.
