I went with Yes, but not all the time. It depends on the gravy.

I usually avoid the gravy, preferring just salt and pepper (and some butter). But gravy is tasty, it just ads unnecessary calories.

I love gravy on my mashed potatoes. But....only if it's good HOME made gravy. I don't care for gravy from a can or from a mix.

I love mashed potatoes and gravy, and they love me too. They love me so much that they stay with me forever!

I look at this from another perspective; the mashed potatoes add the unnecessary calories!OZZIE4DUKE wrote:I usually avoid the gravy, preferring just salt and pepper (and some butter). But gravy is tasty, it just ads unnecessary calories.
I love gravy.

However, some good ole garlic mashed or cheese potatoes can stand alone.

Only if the gravy is good. However, you have to screw it up pretty bad to make me NOT think it's pretty good.

I'll have some gravy with a side of potatoes please.
Re: Do You Like Your Mashed Potatoes Topped with Gravy?
Gravy is delicious. I do not always like it on my mashed potatoes, but definitely sometimes.
Gravy has become my primary responsibility on Thanksgiving in the past few years. My grandmother's kitchen isn't big enough for many people to pitch in on the cooking, but I sort of have to have some job in order to scratch the itch. Mom says she's no good at making gravy, so she's encouraged me to learn how so that we'll still have the good stuff after my grandmother is gone. I enjoy both the making and the eating of the gravy.

Re: Do You Like Your Mashed Potatoes Topped with Gravy?
I inherited the job of gravy at Thanksgiving when our Mom started working a tennis tournament that happened over Thanksgiving. I was the only daughter will to attempt gravy. Every gravy making event since then, if my one brother-in-law is at the meal, he asks me the same question about my gravy making technique. When he isn't around, a friend of the family will ask the question just to bug me.
