@Wake on Saturday
Next up is Wake in Winston on Saturday. Excellent chance to get another road win. I figured I'd mosey over to the Wake boards on Scout to see what they were thinking....
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=192&f=1118&t=7074855
Here are some of the responses:
Duke - whatever they want to score
Wake - whatever Duke wants us to score
Mid way through the first half, the anouncers will be telling stories about their grandchildren and how basketball was better before the shot clock. Or whatever they like to do when a game is out of hand.
a 20 to 40 points loss. The sad part is that it really doesn't depend on us at all, we are so bad it all really depends on when K decides to call off the dogs.

Re: @Wake on Saturday
Our dogs could join Kyrie on the bench for the whole game, and it would still be a blowout.

Could we possibly see 9 guys for Duke in double figures for minutes played AND points?

Re: @Wake on Saturday
I really hope the team is grounded and plays with emotion at Wake Forest. The general suckitude of the *emon *eacons has me worried the team will come out flat and struggle early. We need to be ready to play and blow the doors off of Wake from the opening tip to the final buzzer. GT held Wake to 39 points so a solid objective for this outing should be to hold Wake to less than 39 points. Of course that game was at GT the lowest point total for Wake at home this year is 55 in a 74-55 loss to Maryland so if we can't hold them to under 39 we definitely must hold them to under 55. Ken Pomeroy predicts a 95-66 victory for the Blue Devils and gives us a 99% chance of winning.

Re: @Wake on Saturday
Since I was out and about during the game, I listened to bits and pieces of it on XM Radio. The broadcast was from Wake's radio network. The post-game interview with the Wake AD was quite interesting and struck me as a defensive move to counter the calls for his and Jeff Bzdelik's (sp?) head. I must admit, he said all the right things. According to the AD, their focus is on building the program and creating a culture that reflects well on their university, and they're not sacrificing the long-term goal for short-term (i.e. this season). He said there were decisions they could've made this season that would gain victories for now, but it would compromise the integrity of the program and might cost in the long term. He also listed Duke as an example of the type of program they want to build for Wake Forest. It was a definite damage control interview, but I really, really hope it works out for them.
Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.

Re: @Wake on Saturday
Wake has a lot of young talent on their team. If those players continue to develop, the Demon Deacons will be much better next year. Of course, to build long term success, Bzedelik (sp?) has to prove he can recruit, which may be a tall task.ArkieDukie wrote:He said there were decisions they could've made this season that would gain victories for now, but it would compromise the integrity of the program and might cost in the long term. Having visitors in the house at gametime yesterday, made it dreadfully difficult to pay full attention to the game. I am unable to offer any opinions that could be considered valid, in any regard.

Why are you burdening us with the results of your social ineptness?
