You hit the nail on the head in that the key to beating Army is jumping out to a lead and forcing them to try and throw the ball. In games against teams such as Army and Navy, and Georgia Tech, that run the ball and then run it some, it is important to force them out of their comfort zone. Georgia Tech is different in that they pass the ball very effectively, but against Army and Navy we need to force them to throw the ball more than they want to.

Thanks for another good preview to read while I, not so patiently, await September 4 and the start of the season.

This is just awesome stuff. And a prediction, too, weeks before the game is played. You are a brave young man.

Any opponent has got to be better than Alabama. Regroup and refocus, and look to Army for Homecoming. Any word on Johnny Williams?

I think Duke is really on upset alert this weekend. Army looked really solid on defense Saturday against North Texas. So far Army is dead last in passing yards per game, but they are 7th in the country for rushing yards. This triple option offense is very scary since Duke's defense is terrible to say the least.

Duke needs to forget Alabama, and refocus for this game. A loss to Army could end the season for Duke. A win, and Duke will be feeling good heading into the Maryland game.

GO DUKE!!

EE, you aren't the only one with a case of nerves on this. We could bounce back in a major way, or...we could not.

Or should that be **? I don't know what to call you until your alma maters (almas mater?) play a little defense.

A quick fact: over the first three games we've rushed for 467 yards. Over the first three games of 2009, we rushed for 184 yards. That is a > 250 percent improvement. Desmond Scott and Josh Snead need to see more carries against Army and Maryland. These next two weeks are both must win games and I stay committed to the philosophy you must run to setup the pass in order to achieve long term success. I really, really, really desire for Duke to be 3-2 when Miami arrives at Duke on October 16th.

You and quite a few thousand other fans. We need to start coming up with a bunch more stops on D. I was worried about the D even against Elon when they scored 27 points on us. Tackling and not missing assignments are big keys.

On O, less dropped passes and running proper routes are quite important. By that I mean, you just can't run a 5 yard pattern when you have 3rd and 8 or 9 yards to go for the 1st.

One thing to note..as much as we've knocked our defense (and rightfully so), they have created turnovers in every game so far. Unfortunately we haven't capitalized on those TO's much, but the guys have been solid at creating them. If they create turnovers against Army, and protect the ball on offense, it could mean an easier afternoon. Another Wake style shootout won't surprise me on Saturday.

Any over/under guesses about tomorrow's game?

Points: I'll take the over on 65(combined, of course).

Any others?

I'll take the under on 65. My prediction is Duke 34 - Army 27 for a total of 61 points.

The over/under in Vegas is 56 so I'll take the over on that one:
