That made my brain explode. By the way, I love the name given to the storm surge model...SLOSH! :happy-bouncyblue:

They are talking about mandatory evacuation for Ocracoke..not surprising since the potential is there for it the island to be washed over.
From the National Weather Service:
"Today Hurricane Earl took a unexpected turn due East and is now tracking directly for the coast of North Carolina."

When asked if they had an opinion as to why the hurricane had taken such an unexpected turn, an NWS spokesperson said: "... we're uncertain as to exactly why the storm took such a dramatic turn toward the coast of NC but, it seems to correlate directly with the purchase of a new grill by CameronBornAndBred."

Oh snap. :-o

Here's the latest satellite image. If you look closely, you can see the well-defined eye of the storm, as well as the oft-never-seen right arm and hand of the hurricane.

We're still talking about the "hurricane," right?

What kind of "stuff?"

Some "stuffs" attract particular "Earls."

Evacuations on Ocracoke Island.

A 2 hour ferry ride to the southwest. Ferries are slow. They are evacuating Ocracoke (smartly) because if they get any surge the island will be washed over. There is no place to hide when there is no high ground.

Where in South Florida are you? I visit Ft. Lauderdale several times each year. (Hey DD - no "thanks for the warning" comment from the peanut gallery! :)) )
That one is going over my head. It won't be funny when you have to explain it but every once in a while, I just don't git it.

The dark blue line on the projected model tracks also isn't good.

Apparently the storm is losing a bit of steam too.

It's still a category 3 storm. Even if it goes to a 2, NOT good for CB&B.

I think the scale goes the other way. It is worse if it goes to a 4. Better if it goes to a 2.
