I'm really excited for it, because it means sports people are about to finally quit yammering about the flippin' NFL Draft. Why in the world do they make such a big deal about this? It's all a bunch of overhyped horsehockey if you ask me. Let me know who the Falcons got after the fact, and where Vince Oghobaase ends up. Other than that, I don't much give a shit.

Is there any discussion about Thad also being drafted late, or is he in the category of free agent signee post-draft?

I was pissed last year when Mike Tauilliili (sp?) got cut by the Colts after the last pre-season game. I actually watched one of their preseason games and he made a fourth-down stop on the goal line, and that play was their TV announcers' play of the game. I thought that ought to be worth a roster spot, and then they cut him.

Made me really happy when my Saints beat them in the Super Bowl.

My first love won the National Championship, my football team won the Super Bowl. It's been a good year.

(BTW, my good year in sports ends here. I'm an Orioles fan, and they're 2-14. )

This article from the Durham paper highlights several Duke football players looking for a chance to prove themselves in the NFL. We'll miss Vinnie Rey next fall along with several others from the defense who are graduating.

I'm on a roll too. The Saints are my second favorite NFL team (I was raised to love all things New Orleans, as all my mom's family is from there, but I've lived in DC most of my life, so I love the Redskins). On TOP of that, my blue devil's win the big one. AND my Capitals are still in the NHL playoffs. This would be a truly AMAZING year for me if all three pulled it off! But yea, baseball doesn't love me. My two teams are the Dodgers (my uncle played for them back when they were in Brooklyn) and the O's (again, lived here most of my life, and the Nats don't rate yet). Neither are looking too good so far this year.

I, too, am sick to death of the NFL draft. My roommates are huge football fans and they've had the NFL network on all month. It makes me want to shoot myself - especially as I am not an NFL fan to begin with.

Here's how it all sounds to me "Well Jim, despite winning the Heisman for four straight years, playing iron man football and also being defensive player of the year for all four years of his career, setting every record possible in NCAA football, and setting new records in every drill at the combine Billy has ring fingers are 1/100th of an inch shorter than the average ring finger for players at his position. That has to be a cause for concern and is likely to hurt his draft status. Now, instead of being the consensus #1 overall, he is likely to slip down to the fourth, or maybe even the fifth, round as teams simply won't be able to ignore those finger measurements."

As he's proven time and again since he was a teenager Ovechkin, that marvel of modern chemistry, doesn't have what it takes to play when it really matters. Neutralizing him is easy and, if teams do it consistently, he disappears like virginity on Prom night.

Lewis to the Rams could suck, or it might not.
I like that he'll have to compete against Bradford and for me, that's a good thing. Score +1
He'll get a chance to run Pat Shurmur's offense and Shurmur has done some nice work with less than stellar talent. Hopefully this translates into a system that gets Thad some repetitions and helps build confidence early. Score +1

The downside is that the Rams are defense oriented and there QB coach lacks experience and hasn't produced any big names. Score -2

I would've rather seen him go to Denver

I just rather he had to a team that

• Did not sign the number 1 draft pick, another QB.
  Didn't already have 4 QB's on the roster (including Bradford).

But, someone in the Rams decided Thad was worth looking at, and their current selection of QB's obviously was not getting it done.
