Windsor makes a very good point. Since space and time are inextricably combined, at a certain point there was nothing. But at that time there was no time either. So before that point in time is a meaningless concept. There was no before.

I agree with this in theory, or fact. But still, it is incomprehensible for me. Call it "time," call it "fingledoong," call it whatever......., still, everything had to have a beginning, right? It may not have been called, "time" but still there was before and after, right? Either way, I just can't comprehend it.

I just spent way too much time on wikipedia reading creation myths...to see how many had a 'beginning' for their deity and how many did not but stumbled on this....which is much more fitting:
The Buddha regarding the origin of life has said "Conjecture about [the origin, etc., of] the world is an unconjecturable that is not to be conjectured about, that would bring madness & vexation to anyone who conjectured about it"

So don't conjecture or you will be mad...and vexed

Of the shape? I give you that. But it's apples and oranges. The shape itself may not have a beginning or ending, but the presence of the shape (and the presence of us and our universe) certainly had a beginning. You (representing a god) posted the shape on the board, thus giving it a "beginning." If a moderator chooses to delete it, then you will have your ending.

I'm not talking about the beginning or ending of things already here (the circle). I'm talking about how in the Hell did anything ever begin in the first place???
