Congrats to Baseball Team on a great regular season

I've stated many times, I'm not a baseball fan. But I've enjoyed following the baseball team this year as they have fought for relevance in the ACC. They opened conference play with a series win over #1 unc, and they just closed it with a series win over #7 Georgia Tech. Depending on BC today, Duke could have the #7 seed for the tourney, but most importantly they are playing in it. If I were in Durham I'd even go watch, and am halfway tempted to go anyways. It would be sort of cool to continue my Duke sports theme with baseball paintings. Best of luck to them and congrats to the team and especially the seniors and coaching staff.

Those were very nice bookends to a season that has seen far more competitiveness from the Duke baseball team than we've enjoyed for quite some time. We did in fact end up earning the #7 seed in the ACC Tournament. The first round is pool-play style, meaning we've got guaranteed games against carolina, UVA, and Climpsun. The team with the best pool record would advance to the championship game. That's a pretty tough draw for us, so a championship berth is frankly unlikely, but we have won at least one game against each of those opponents this season, so it's not as if it's impossible. Moreover, the ACC is among the best if not the best baseball conference in the country, so with a strong tourney performance, an NCAA Tournament berth is not out of the question, either. That'd be Duke's first in 48 years! :o
At any rate, this is the team's strongest season in quite some time, and the team appears to be making real strides after the steroids scandal and general struggles of recent years.

I'm seriously thinking about going to the 8pm Sat. game vs. UVA. Really I'd be going to take photos, I've enjoyed the football ones, it would be my last chance to do some paintings of the baseball team this year, and under the lights no less. If my dad is in town and has a spare bed, I'm there.

There's also the fact that the Durham Bulls Athletic Park is, in my eyes, an architectural gem (something of a smaller predecessor to Atlanta's own Turner Field, in fact...designed by the same firm, just a few years prior). I think some architectural paintings of the stadium and environs would also be a worthy endeavor. Gotta love the old tobacco warehouses, as well as the big "Hit Bull, Win Steak/Hit Grass, Win Salad" sign in LF.
