Here in St. Louis we were supposed to start getting snow overnight last night, but the change over didn't start happening until mid-afternoon. It's not really sticking on the roads yet, but it's starting to stick on the grass. There are slushy patches on the sidewalks, though. We're supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow, last I heard. We'll see if that comes to pass when all is said and done.

That's cool about the snow smell. I can usually tell if it will snow vs. rain depending on how the air smells.

Chris,

Holy shit! Me too! I thought I was the only one! It really is awesome.

DC talking about 30" of snow. They can have it. We have had 1.75" of rain so far since MN. We dodged a HUGE bullet here. That translates to about 18* of snow.

6" - 8" total here since late yesterday. Looks like driving may be a bit treacherous on the local streets. Mainly for the other drivers. So, so many people out last night that shouldn't have been. I wasn't happy with the rental car and so had to drive much slower than I would have driven in my car. I was glad to finally get to my car, it was built for situations like last night.

Looks like we've got about a foot on our balcony, though it looks like less out front--there's another building behind us, so the back is kind of a wind tunnel and the snow really builds up--so our total is probably more like 8" so far, and it's still coming down pretty hard.

Sounds like the DC area is really getting hammered, again. Everybody, stay warm!

Watching the 'Nova - Geargetown game on ESPN (praying for no overtime so we get to see our game). They just showed a shot looking out a window. Definitely a blizzard out there! Now showing people walking on plowed streets. Glad nothing is falling here, at least right now, although it is just 20 miles to the north http://www.weather.com/outlook/events/s ... irect=true

Confirmed sighting of about 30 minutes of snow flurries here in north Raleigh. Don't worry, we've got bread, TP and OJ... :D

DC is indeed getting hammered with Weather Channel reports of 14-30" in the DC/Ballmore area earlier this AM and still lots of stuff to come, perhaps another 6-8". They can have it.

Atlanta just got bombarded by ten minutes of very light sleet. Rush to the store for milk and bread! It's just cloudy now.

I saw light snow from Garner to Efland on my way back home. 39 degrees. The sun has started to peak out some.
