Duke vs. Georgia Tech

Post by dukediv2012 » November 11th, 2009, 12:37 pm

Look for Duke to focus on the run this weekend against GT... as if that wasn't obvious.

Duke did pretty well against the option last year and look for another opportunity to fight against the GT option attack again this Saturday.

Not to nitpick...but we got our asses kicked and were skunked last year by GT. How was that doing "well against the option"? We did ok against Navy, and beat them, but doing well against their option (or Army's for that matter) and doing well against GT's is a world of difference.

We did OK for about 35-40 minutes in the game, trailing 0-10 midway to late in the 3Q last year, IIRC. Hopefully with last year's films to study, perhaps some from other GT games this year, the coaches can get the D to bend and not breakdown for 5 TD. They also had a WR last year, IIRC, who had about 8 catches all year coming into the game and had 8-9 catches against us for well over 100 yards, killing us when we looked for them to run, run, run, and then, run some more. This is all from memory so you may want to verify some of those statements above.

What I dread us doing is what we did last year..and that was try to run it, alot. I was there with my dad, and we were both cringing at the number of first and second downs in a row that we ran it. I fear we are going to have the same game plan that we had against unc, and if we do we are screwed. If we try throwing the ball down the field I like our chances better.

I love Ima's buttons. How do I get one of those? I never missed a game between '93 and '97. ;)

In response to Duke's game last year...

Duke played better than any other team against the GT option attack last season. It was GT's passing attack that killed Duke.

GT had over 230 yards in the air last year.

I think Duke has a chance in this game... just sayin'.

GO DUKE! BEAT GT!

She's had them at the last 2 games. Ima is not feeling well today & amy not be at the game tomorrow. You could pm Ima to inquire how to get one.

Well that was painful. I got really excited at that touchdown right out of the gate, but it was pretty much downhill from there. :sigh:

Once again, they gained 200+ yards in the air, averaging 19+ yards per completion (WTF?!)

We won the first five minutes! We just need shorter games.

I'm glad I didn't call my Yellow Jacket brother when we scored so quickly.

Obviously the team still has some work to get to the level they desire. I'm still proud of the team and ready to cheer them on next week.
Life is good!
