It was interesting to me that a lot of teams slumped their way into the playoffs. In particular, I'm thinking of the Sox, the Phillies, the Dodgers, and the Cardinals. All were under .500 for their last 10 games going into the playoffs. 3 weeks ago, I would have said the Cardinals were the odds on favorites to win the NL, even if the Dodgers at that time had compiled the better record. Now I think the NL is up for grabs and the AL is the Yankees to lose.

The Yankees are NOT going to lose it. So it is written, so it shall be.

With that pitching, it ain't written yet; sorry Oz. The AL probably is the Yankees' to lose, but I strongly disagree that they're the overwhelming favorites everyone thinks they are.

They are definitely not overwhelming favorites in my book but they are better than the rest. But in a short series in baseball, anything can happen. After the first two games, of the AL I think the Halos have a great shot.

Flipping back and forth between shows, I was able to catch both A-Rod's and Texiera's hits.

So lame.

This is my back yard, all of 10 minutes from Coors Field. They really couldn't clear the field and play?

The Red Sox blow it right as the Bengals pull out a last second win against the Ravens. Hmmm...I moved from Boston to Cincy. Coincidence perhaps?

So I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but I'm surprised that there hasn't been any questioning of MLB's decision to postpone last night's Phillies-Rockies game. First and foremost, there was not enough snow in Denver to justify the decision. A dusting that stopped by noon. Six hours before first pitch. It was really cold last night, but MLB didn't base its decision the cold and, as far as I'm concerned, cold isn't a reason to not play an outdoor sporting event (if you're going to put teams in cities like Denver, you have to understand that the fall can be cold).

In the end, the decision unquestionably helps the Phillies. They now get to re-set their starting rotation so that Lee and Hamels (two lefties, which is Colorado's weakness) will get to each pitch two games. Second, the decision completely mitigates Charlie Manuel's mishandling of his pitching staff in Game 2 by giving Happ another day of rest before he has to pitch again. Finally, it allows them to avoid having to start Pedro in 15 degree weather. It's also unquestionable that MLB would prefer the Phillies to win this series in terms of television exposure. My guess is that the benefit the Phills will receive was considered before the decision was made.

I wish the media would at least discuss this possibility. I don't think I'm going out on too far a limb here, especially since I was actually in Denver all day yesterday and can say with certainty that snow would not have been an issue.
