Brunchgate, 9/5 Edition

Post by devildeac » August 22nd, 2009, 10:06 pm

I promised Ozzie I'd start this so here we go, the official ( ) announcement/proclamation of chapter 1 of the 2009 Brunchgate series.

Where: Tent #2 (we hope!) in the Card Gym lot. Look for the LTE/crazietalk/GTHC banner
When: Oh, let's say about 4 PM on 9/5/09.
What: Fine comestibles and beverages. Let's get the menu rolling with the replies that should follow by the thousands ( ); hundreds, maybe?
Who: Who else  ? This should invite everyone here and I'll send a few PM's on DBR to invite some past attendees

Specifically, I'm calling out TNTDevil to be sure he gets the parking pass that comes with the tent rental and that he just might be ready, willing and able to prepare a few gourmet items for us again this year. That, of course, does not overlook potato casseroles, bagels, cold cuts, veggies, fruits, assorted sausages, burgers and seafood that were prepared last year. I certainly hope that fine ale sampling and trading are on the agenda also :D .

Questions? This is your time and place.

Contributions, consumable or cash, for the tent or menu items? This is your time and place, too.

This post is already WAY to long for my reputation and liking, so have at it!

(note to administrator: could we sticky this for the next two weeks? Please. Pretty please, with some hops on top? ;) )

Well of course I'll be there! I won't have any home brews until late September at the earliest, but I'll be there with a nice collection of brews for drinking and trading. As far as food goes, I'm thinking of bringing marinated chicken to grill for the first outing, chicken-on-a-stick style with the bamboo skewers.

We are tent #8.

I've got the parking pass issue for Tim resolved.

I'm bringing Bud Light.

Will there be room to set up another tent opposite ours across the sidewalk? Just wondering since we know there is little shade there. If we can set one up, I have one I can bring. If not, everyone make sure you have sunscreen!

Hmm, what veggies will match nicely with the 1st entree of the evening?

A wheat ale or a pale ale sounds like a good beverage to accompany the chicken. Perhaps a 60 Minute IPA or a Bridgeport IPA...

I'd bring it if you have room and then see if we can set it up just off the sidewalk or in the "median" of the lot.

I sent a PM to allenmurray, dpslaw, The Gordog, BuschDevil, JStuart, Raleighfan and budwom, along with a link to CT. I shall keep y'all updated re: their interest/responses. Any other ideas?

Nope, sounds good. I wasn't sure if they had been PMed or not.

Does that mean someone else is bringing beer? :D :ymdevil:

I am so uninspired right now. But I'm sure I will have something in mind by mid-next week.

Hey, Folks. I followed devildeac over here after his PM. Unfortunately, it looks like most of my Saturdays this fall will be spent looking after my dad, who isn't doing well. I hope to make a game or two this year, but I'm not sure at this point. I was sure looking forward to Brunchgate, so I hope I can join you all at least once or twice.
