Calendar WAS online---and now is again
I was playing around on the website control panel, and found out how to install a calendar that everyone can see and add events to. It looked like it was going to work, but as soon as you add an event (first football game) it f*cks up the page and you can't even log back into it. It looks promising if we can figure out how to debug the errors.
Keep an eye out at http://www.crazietalk.net/calendar
LATE NIGHT EDIT--- It does work. You have to register to add entries, be careful because even the user names are case sensitive. Hopefully we can add to the script so it will authenticate users that are already registered on the forum, I've done that with other sites. But for now, you have to register on the calendar page since it is a separate database.
IF you add any entries, make sure that you either put them in as timed events, or all day events. If you leave them as untimed, it breaks everything. We'll fix that, but just be aware for now.
You don't have to register or login to view the calendar.

A nice function of this calendar is the ability to import and export iCalendar, vCalendar and CSV files, so you can bring them into Outlook. Once you register, you actually have your own calendar separate from the public one. That will be confusing until I figure out how it all works.

You don't have to register to add events to the calendar (although that's a setting I can change). I might leave it like that, less registration the better. If we get a bunch of crap events added, then I might change it to an approval method, but I can always edit or delete them anyways. I think it might be wise to have the forum mods register, so they can oversee the calendar as well as the forums.

I tried to find it so I could blatantly add to mine with an answer, but no luck.devildeac wrote:YmoBeThere wrote:Where is this calendar that you speak of?

The calendar is at http://www.crazietalk.net/calendar
I guess that would have been nice to know, I removed the link when it wasn't working.
Remember, if you add an event, make sure it is either set to a timed event or an all day event.
After further looking, I noticed it was in the original post after all. We are all blind, me included.

I've set it up so you don't have to login...but if you want to, you need register for it. The user database is separate from the database for the forums.
