I guess the DOJ won't be looking into his underage sexual activities anymore.
Tulsi Gabbard for National Intelligence.
I know the GOP has full control, but I wonder if there will be any fight against any of these appointments. I'm guessing no.

Gaetz has also resigned effective immediately. That probably closes his ethics investigation without the committee issuing a report. And I’m guessing the Pubs will try to replace him before the new class is sworn in but that timing seems tight.
Given how close the House is, I’m curious whether the Trump team is counting or if they will screw this up in the bigliest way possible.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
I was cautiously optimistic when he named Rubio secretary of state. I don't like Rubio's politics and don't like that he has sold his soul to MAGA but he is generally qualified for the role.
The rest of these losers are truly frightening. This is not a game or a joke. It truly seems like Trump is appointing people who a) kiss his backside most aggressively, and b) will most piss off the libs. He has plenty of kool aid drinking sycophants who are at least somewhat qualified for the jobs.
I wonder how all the evangelicals feel about Hegseth having a child with another woman while married. DoD is a huge, complex organization. I appreciate that he has actively served. But he hasn't led anything. This is a real job. People die if it is not run properly (insert Jack Nicholson speech here). Trump's Secretaries of Defense during his first term were generally qualified. This guy is a clown.
And Musk and Vivek should not be within a mile of government. We thought Trump's conflicts of interest were bad? Musk is ridiculous. The worship of him because he makes a lot of money is nuts. Unfortunately, we no longer have any checks and balances to deal with any of this.

On a slightly different note I am seeing all these jokes on line about Mike Johnson being the happiest man alive tonight.
“Mike Johnson is the happiest man on earth right now. His worst employee just got promoted to a different department. Whooohooo!”.

This is great. Infowars has been bought by The Onion.

The satirical news publication The Onion won the bidding for Alex Jones' Infowars at a bankruptcy auction, backed by families of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims whom Jones owes more than $1 billion in defamation judgments for calling the massacre a hoax, the families announced Thursday.

I agree with this assessment. Given the terrifying ineptitude of most of his picks, I fully expect MTG to get a post.CrazyNotCrazie wrote: ↑November 13th, 2024, 8:39 pmI was cautiously optimistic when he named Rubio secretary of state. His cabinet picks are each trying to outdo the last one in it's absurdity. I'm hopeful not all will pass the Senate, even with the GOP in charge.

This is where losing the senate seats in PA and OH is really killer. Murkowski and Collins aren't enough to block this alone (even if they would). I'm not sure if enough Republicans have the cajones to stand up to Trump. He truly thinks this is a game. All of the morons who voted for him saying "no, he won't be that bad" will have blood on their hands when these idiots destroy our country. And no, I'm not exaggerating or over-reacting or being a downer.CameronBornAndBred wrote: ↑November 14th, 2024, 7:47 pmMuch like who needs enemies when....Who needs a plague when you have such competence running the nation's health?ArkieDukie wrote: ↑November 14th, 2024, 6:43 pmYeah. GOP Senators are being threatened by other GOP Senators, such as Tuberville, with being ruined if they don't pass through Trump's picks.CrazyNotCrazie wrote: ↑November 14th, 2024, 10:48 pmThis is where losing the senate seats in PA and OH is really killer. Tuberville is also enough of a loyalist moron to get a cabinet pick.CameronBornAndBred wrote: ↑November 14th, 2024, 11:01 pmGOP Senators are being threatened by other GOP Senators, such as Tuberville, with being ruined if they don't pass through Trump's picks.CrazyNotCrazie wrote: ↑November 14th, 2024, 10:48 pmThis is where losing the senate seats in PA and OH is really killer. It’s like the Gish Gallop strategy applied to cabinet picks. Most are so appallingly awful that it’s hard to choose just one to be upset about. If any of his picks aren’t confirmed, I expect Gaetz to be the one who gets a thumbs down. Reportedly, there were audible gasps from his republican colleagues when his selection as AG was announced. He is just an awful person and has no business being anywhere near the DoJ.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
Trump is having some of his picks for his cabinet forego FBI background checks. Mike Johnson says there is no need to release Gaetz's ethics report.
Why would an AG need to be ethical? Why bother seeing if anyone in government has any legal concerns? I mean, that's just silliness, right?

Is this where Biden can step up with his "unlimited power?" He is still in charge. I feel like something can be done here. Two wrongs don't make a right. But I think he should take on the Trump philosophy of act now, ask for forgiveness later and do something about this. Maybe tell the FBI to do background checks and release them. I don't know.CameronBornAndBred wrote: ↑November 15th, 2024, 12:43 pmTrump is having some of his picks for his cabinet forego FBI background checks. I don’t know about any of you guys but I am sort of angry at the moment. I am angry at the Democratic Party and Biden. I can only blame them for this situation we are in. One of the reasons is STOP asking me for money. I get texts asking me to sign a petition and it’s really just a request for money. Please don’t bother me for three years. Hopefully at that point you have got your shit together and you have nominated a great nominee for President with an inspiring message that can motivate many of the groups that you have lost to tRump to vote for you.CrazyNotCrazie wrote: ↑November 15th, 2024, 2:48 pmIs this where Biden can step up with his "unlimited power?" Suckers. Just another voting bloc that's gonna be dealing with buyer's remorse.U.S. Muslim leaders who supported Republican Donald Trump to protest against the Biden administration's support for Israel's war on Gaza and attacks on Lebanon have been deeply disappointed by his Cabinet picks, they tell Reuters.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/muslims-vote ... 17749.html"Trump won because of us and we're not happy with his Secretary of State pick and others," said Rabiul Chowdhury, a Philadelphia investor who chaired the Abandon Harris campaign in Pennsylvania and co-founded Muslims for Trump. Muslim support for Trump helped him win Michigan and may have factored into other swing state wins, strategists believe.
Trump picked Republican senator Marco Rubio, a staunch supporter of Israel for Secretary of State.
