Too bad that the box score shows a lop sided game, it was anything but until the very end. It was a really nice showing by our team.
SC wins 77-61
I'm very much looking forward to some ACC action!

The women had cut the deficit to 3 but, according to a friend at the game, the officiating has been egregiously and dishonestly one-sided and full of bullshittery with PF 19-6 against Duke and FT 20-2, again, against Duke and Kara is demonstrably pissed.

The score was tied 55-55 early in the fourth quarter after a single foul called in the quarter, on Duke. S.Car. was put into the bonus with 5:33 to play in the game, leading by three points, 58-55, with Kennedy Brown having received her fourth foul and getting benched. Kennedy was able to play another 0:36 game seconds before being fouled out of the game. I do think that Duke committed more fouls than S.Car., but but not more than 3x as many. The game was certainly not called evenly throughout, and especially not down the stretch, which is when the game was ultimately decided.

To be very clear, however, I don't think it was dishonest. I think it was incompetent.

Duke is going to lose this game to a bad Clemson team in a very bad way. Still 7 minutes left and down 20.

Truly inexcusable. The worst performance ever by a Lawson-coached defense. That isn't hyperbole.

The defense was uncommonly bad, but what really aggravated me was our passing. A team can be bad defensively yet still stay in it if they work well on the other end of the court. We continuously shot ourselves in the foot with just stupid mental mistakes, making some atrocious passes either into traffic or so high that nobody but a fan could ever catch them.

Really nice win today. Came out strong, faded in the first, and then found our footing for the rest of the game. Mair had 24 points and Okananwa had 18 (with 3 for 3 shooting past the arc).

Final score 82-63

That was an excellent defensive performance, in particular. Kara had really sussed out what they do, and the team executed the plan to stop it. They are a team that just doesn't play in the mid-range at all, and get around 40% of their overall points from three. We held them to fewer than 20%, meaning that a team that normally hoists around 28 three-point attempts per game was able to get up just 12 against us. And for the most part we stymied the dribble penetration that sets them up. This was the polar opposite of the Clemson game, where we couldn't stop anybody off the dribble and gave up an ungodly number of open threes.

Really nice bounce back win.

I sure wish we had figured out how to do that against Clemson! (And Davidson, for that matter.)

We learned a lot from Clemson that we immediately applied to FGCU. Our ability to stop the drive, and our quickness on the help-and-recover when the initial defender was a step slow was so much better. Davidson was a whole different thing. They beat us by being methodical and highly efficient when they were on offense, and then turning around and completely smothering our offense. We mainly lost the Davidson game on our own offensive end.

Yes, our offense was dismal, but I was focusing on their three point shooting. An even 50%, 9-18. Clemson hit 11-18. Both of those games killed us from the arc, so I was happy to see us turn it around and shut down FGCU from outside.

(Like you said about offense, at least against Clemson we hit 9 of our own, vs Davidson we were 2-13)

Yes, but in Davidson's case, the open looks were methodically generated through positioning and passing, not from dribble penetration chaos. Also, we didn't just shoot poorly from three in that game. We shot below average from two and below average from the line, as well. If we hit all three at our usual rate, we win that game even with their great shooting. Heck, we'd have been within a point if we'd only gone 4-13 from deep, which is still below our season average. We couldn't hit the ocean from a boat that day.

This is very cool. This past Sunday, Chelsea was in the booth for the Duke - FGCU game, and last night she moved up to the big time.
The Sacramento Kings announced the addition of Las Vegas Aces guard Chelsea Gray to the NBC Sports California pre- and postgame broadcast team as an analyst. Gray, who will make her debut pregame tonight, will provide commentary alongside hosts Kyle Draper and Morgan Ragan and analysts Matt Barnes and Mike Bibby on NBC Sports California for the remainder of the 2023-24 NBA season.

Excellent 25 point win for the women. 70-45 victory over a tournament quality Toledo team.
Donovan with 12 points, 10 boards, and 4 blocks, Kennedy with a career high 17.

I really like the progress Donovan's been making.

Wasn't pretty, but a win's a win, especially in conference play. Duke picks up their first ACC victory over Boston College.
Duke 80- BC 75 is the final.
Duke shot 57% from three and 68% overall. Duke also coughed up the ball 28 times, which is beyond terrible.
Tania Mair (Transfer from BC) led with 21 points.

First two words are a major understatement, but I'll take the W. It was nice to see T put up such a good game against her former team. It was also cool to see that she evidently made some lasting friendships at BC. There were lots of hugs in the post game handshake.

That game hopefully preps us at least a little bit for Thursdays game at Louisville. That's a better overall team than BC, and their pressure defense will be just as intense. Hopefully, we can be a little more careful with the ball, and focus a little more on our defensive glass. A possession doesn't end until the rebound is secured. Lessons to live by.

27 Turnovers in tonight's horror show of a game vs Louisville. Only one player (Okananwa) in double digits.

33% shooting, the team overall looked clueless against the Cardinals defense.

61-44 was the final, and it wasn't that close. (Helped by a 4 point 2nd quarter)
