And it continues. McC loses the 6th.
When do they start blaming Obama and Dems?
The lady who nominated McCarthy last time blamed the Dems, their popcorn, and their alcohol. (Not kidding)
I couldn't hear everything she said, but assumed it was grotesque and offensive.

Two random thoughts:

1. I'm surprised MTG is not part of the dissenting groups. That seems like her crowd.
2. I had a nightmare last night that after countless votes, the Republicans ended up agreeing on Trump as Speaker of the House.
3. It is ridiculous that we need someone in this position to have a functioning government. Is this a founding rule of America or did this come about at a later date. I have complained repeatedly about the ridiculous amount of power that the Senate Majority Leader has (and McConnell in particular abused). This is a similar situation.

My wife turned on Fox tonight, just to see what that side was saying, and apparently Fox was blaming the Democrats for "siding with election deniers". Not kidding.

Watching Fox would have been less maddening than watching Duke get their ass kicked by State.

1. Agreed. It seems Marge must have a side deal with Kevin to return her to good graces. She certainly bet on his side hard.
2. Nightmare, indeed!
3. Speaker of the House is a Constitutional position, and is second in line for the Presidency.

Ooooo, that's a close one. I think I'd still take the 23-point drubbing, honestly. At least we might learn something.

Well this would be a twist. Has this ever happened before?
Though reigning POTUS Joe Biden has yet to formally announce whether he’ll throw his hat in the ring for re-election come 2024, it seems he’s already made one major decision surrounding his theoretical campaign — dropping Vice President Kamala Harris off of his ticket.
Pinning his domestic policy shortcomings and historically mediocre poll performances on his reigning Veep, 46 is purportedly ready to give Harris the axe, claiming she “doesn't seem to have the right stuff,” per one insider close with the Commander-in-Chief.
Of course this is just one report referencing "an insider", but it does seem that Biden has been less than happy with Harris these past two years.

From the article:
In fact, the former Delaware Senator is said to already be eyeing a few past First Ladies for the highly-coveted role.

"Joe's no fool," a second Democratic party insider exclusively spilled to Radar. "He knows if he can add someone like Hillary Clinton or Michelle Obama to the ticket instead of Kamala, his chances immediately improve against any Republican nominee."
Um, no. Michelle Obama won't take the job, and Hillary Clinton would submarine his chances in the general, not enhance them. If he picks Hillary, he really is a fool.

Yeah, Hillary as a selection would be moronic. I can just imagine how that would turn out. :twitch:

Onto #9.

The GOP is trying to convince America they can govern the country, and they can't even govern themselves.

McCarthy is starting to lose votes. As this round nears the end, Donalds has 17 votes compared to the 10 he had before, and "others" has increased to 3. McCarthy won't even get to 200.

The writing is on the wall, buddy.

Edit-- Well he got to 201, but that's less than he had before.

Whatever else you can say about this fiasco - and there's plenty - I love to see the Dems sticking together and giving Jeffries the vote lead in every single go-'round. It is nice to see Democrats actually all pulling in the same direction. It's rare, so enjoy it while it is happening.

I like how when the Republican rep stands up and nominates Byrons, and says "your first black speaker", all the Dems stand up and cheer, knowing that would be true about Jeffries.

Voting for the 10th ballot continues, but as of now Hern has 6 votes, which is twice his number since the last round. (And McCarthy loses again, spoiler alert.)

Jake Sherman reporting that a deal may be close, reviewing a written draft. Not sure how many of the dissenters this would involve if it comes to pass.
