Trump calls the GA secretary of state. This is how delusional he is; I'm halfway thinking he actually believes this himself.
At another point, Trump said: “So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state.”

The rambling, at times incoherent conversation, offered a remarkable glimpse of how consumed and desperate the president remains about his loss, unwilling or unable to let the matter go and still believing he can reverse the results in enough battleground states to remain in office.

“There’s no way I lost Georgia,” Trump said, a phrase he repeated again and again on the call. “There’s no way. We won by hundreds of thousands of votes.”

Posted on OY too. It has to stay up right? Quite stunning really.

What a cluster fuck.

I used to say that I wished my state of Georgia “mattered” in electoral politics. I take that back.

Absolute cluster fuck.

I don't know. I'd say your state is holding up quite well.

Who knows how this might have played out if Texas or Florida was a tipping point.

This is the one we know about. Who knows how these conversations played out in AZ, PA, etc. Fortunately, I don't think that they can do anything. The GA Secretary of State should win a medal of honor. Fox News has finally acknowledged it and this is their lead story - I skimmed it and it looked relatively non-partisan.

I find it funny/scary that Trump isn't just saying that he won, but that he really won by hundreds of thousands of votes. If you are going to lie, go big.

Watching an interesting segment on 60 Minutes about dealing with internet trolls who harass people in relation to Section 230.

The recording sounds like a mob boss giving orders. “find” the exact number of votes needed to flip the results!!

And let's find the rest of them guilty of aiding and abetting. I really want to hear someone explain how this does not trouble them. The man is not mentally well. Every doctor in America should have to make a statement about how they feel about Trump's behavior and mental health. And if they do not speak out against it, no rational person should see this doctor and they should be relieved of their medical license (I know that doctors are not supposed to diagnose people they haven't met in person, but this one is very obvious).

Even more stunning to me that the call took place last Saturday. The guy just won’t give up. I mean how was he expecting it to play out? One month after the election....Oh. we have recounted and Trump won by one vote.
Doesn’t he need more than Georgia anyway?

If this is so important to them and they know there are definitely issues, they would have a detailed action plan and be able to show that they are ready to start this investigation the next day. You know, the one they could have been doing for the last few months, and largely have been doing with all of the recounts, court cases, etc. But this is clearly just a stall tactic until they come up with their next brilliant idea.

I am glad to see at least a few fairly hard core Republican Senators opposing this circus. The representatives cater to a much narrower audience so they can get away with this craziness more.

Seeing Trump leave the White House for the last time will be a great moment. Hopefully there will be lots of camera crews there to document it. And if they have to carry him out, go after his hair. Then immediately turn off his twitter feed.

See now, you're trying to be rational and sane. Big no-no.

Actually, I think the rationale of those around him (he has zero rationale) is if they can get 1 state to flip, it brings all the other states into question and gives their argument a huge boost. It is extremely important that they are batting .000 in the courts.

A colleague said that there is grounds for immediate impeachment on charges of election interference. Not sure how that would play out, but it seems pretty open and shut to me.

Is your colleague a person with specialized knowledge, or just a citizen with common sense like the rest of us?

It was pretty open and shut the last time too, and we saw how that worked out.

Interesting article about one of the Republican Reps who has broken with Trump, Adam Kinzinger from Illinois. He is a pretty hard core Republican on policy issues who voted for Trump this year but has finally seen the error in his ways. I'm sorry it took him so long but kudos to him for stepping up - he is taking a lot of heat. Also linking to his twitter feed, which is really interesting and entertaining - scroll back at least to 12/31/20.

Awesome.
This is what you should expect from politicians. Wouldn’t it be cool if all the Rs did the same? What a crazy mind blowing world we live in.

I watched about an hour of Trumps stumpin. So boring, such a dirge of repetitive verbal diarrhea. Nothing new.

Good idea. Did you tell him to pop over?

Did you notice “there are bad people on both sides” post? So lame.

Not to pile on Jason, but he deleted a bunch of posts and gave us all a scolding when he was pretty guilty of adding to the issue. The only thing worse was PackMan who made some really lame false equivalencies about Democrats being as bad as Republicans. A bunch of us called him out but the whole thing got cut.
