Today is supposed to be an off-day for me, but duty calls, so into the fray I go. It's still a good morning, though, and my day will end at noon with the women's tipoff. Go Duke!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It has been a long and difficult year, so far, but there are still many reasons to give thanks - my family, my friends, it will be sunny today, puppies, laughing babies, Chiefs won a second Super Bowl, Zoom. Some more important than others, obviously, but all important to recognize.

And emojis - :happy-bouncyblue: :9f: :romance-grouphug: :chicken: :text-thankyoublue: :text-thankyouyellow:

My turkey went in the oven at 9:30 (I planned to cook it outside on the grill but it is raining) after brining in a salt/sugar solution for 18 hours. I put lots of garlic, lemon slices, peppercorn and bay leaves in the brine. Thanks to Tim for the brine instructions.

I shoved half a red onion, three quarters of a lemon* and a bunch of rosemary in the cavity. Outside rubbed with olive oil, seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder.

* dropped the last quarter on the floor so it went in the trash.

I’m making cornbread dressing. Janice will fix the mash potatoes, green beans and sweet potatoes.
