Bowl Game destination discussion
Now that we are bowl eligible, discussing our potential destination seems appropriate. Personally, I am holding out hope we receive a bid to the Military Bowl in Annapolis. The potential destinations are:
1. Military Bowl in Annapolis, Dec 28 at 1:30 pm
2. Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit, Dec 26 at 5:15 pm
3. Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Dec 27 at 1:30 pm
4. Birmingham Bowl in Birmingham, Dec 23, 12:00 noon
5. Gasparillo Bowl in St. Petersburg, Dec 21, 8:00 pm
The first three bowls are ACC tie-in bowls with the last two being at large bowls due to other conferences lack of bowl eligible teams. Early speculation seems to indicate Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit will be where we end up. Virginia will probably beat us out for Annapolis.
Bowl bids will go out next Sunday.

Options 4 and 5 could be interesting in terms of logistics and previously scheduled events. Early Signing Day is December 20. Duke has an event scheduled that morning to announce and celebrate. The reason to celebrate that day is that all LOIs are expected to be signed that day and not wait until the February date.

Re: Bowl Game destination discussion
Local beat writers Stephen Wiseman and Joe Giglio both have Duke going to the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit. Sounds like Virginia will be headed to the Military Bowl.
Good chance we would play Western Michigan in the Quick Lane bowl as the Big10 did not have enough bowl eligible teams to fill all their bowl slots.
Detroit has one of the nicest arenas that bowl games are played in. Not a bad spot for us to land.

I care more about when we play than where we play. Crossing fingers for an evening game!

The overriding factor for me is finishing the season 7-6 rather than 6-7 so I am hoping for a favorable match-up. Playing Central Michigan or Western Michigan in the Quick Lane Bowl or Navy in the Military Bowl for example. So opponent is more important than location.CameronBornAndBred wrote:I care more about when we play than where we play. Crossing fingers for an evening game!

Announcement show is today 12:00 to 4:00 pm. The real question is when will news start leaking out? Most prognosticators still have Duke headed to the Quick Lane Bowl against a MAC team. I'm good with that. Sports Illustrated has Duke vs. Memphis in Birmingham Bowl...I am okay with Birmingham but I want nothing to do with 10-2 Memphis!
I'm ready to find out who and where!!!

Be careful where the Huskies go, and don't you eat the yellow snow. AW.Bob Green wrote:Who: Northern Illinois Huskies.
