Southern Durham HS 4* running back Jordon Brown also committed to Carolina last week. Coach Fedora is convincing these guys football is in the clear so no future penalties are going to take place. The bad stuff is in the rear view mirror, the academics have been cleaned up, the miscreants are out of the program, yada, yada, yada...

My take:

1. A lot of young people are naïve.
2. A lot of young athletes do not care about the education piece of college athletics.

My question: where is the parental oversight? Are they dumb? Or simply allowing their children to make their own decision no matter how bad it is? Putting the Duke/Carolina rivalry aside and analyzing the situation from a neutral perspective results in realizing Carolina is a bad place for an athlete to go to college right now and for the next two or three years.

Back to Jordon Brown, he is an all purpose back so his future at Carolina is projected to be as a slot receiver.

Roy has got to be picking the hat's brain left and right, wondering how it is Fedora keeps landing elite players while he is left with second tier commitments.
Good news for Ol Roy is that he won't have to majorly apologize to anyone for bullshitting them so badly. At least to nobody he's convinced.

Some Twitterverse rumors starting to pop up that good news is on the way. I believe it is safety Javon Jackson:

Dylan Singleton (Deondre's brother) is another possibility.

Dylan Singleton will announce tomorrow. Deondre is tweeting about it so I interpret that as a good sign. Javon Jackson has delayed his announcement.

3* Defensive Back Javon Jackson from Tyrone, GA has committed to Duke. He had lots of offers including: Cincinnati, Louisville, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Illinois and East Carolina.

So we get another quality prospect without losing any room on the roster for 4* big fish who are not going to decide until closer to National Signing Day. Jackson will slide into the roster spot vacated by the dismissed T.J. Douglas.

3* offensive guard Julian Santos, 6'4" 297, has verbally committed to Duke. His offer list is impressive: Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, Miss St, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee and others...

He is commitment #19 for 2016.

With National Signing Day in the rearview mirror, this thread is pretty much done. Before we send it to the graveyard, I'll make two points:

1. I reviewed the roster posted at GoDuke, added in the 20 freshmen not listed (Mark Gilbert and Jacob Morganstern are listed because they enrolled in January) and by my count our numbers are good: 105 total players including 85 scholarship and 20 walk on.

2. I'm really, really, really ready to start the 2017 Recruiting thread. Come on Coach Cutcliffe, let's get it in gear! :D
