So, we're all aware of the situation with the Carolina game, no need to rehash that here. What we do need to know, and very soon, is everyone's intentions for this game and the pre-game.

Clearly, in the absence of a rapid reassessment by the Duke administration, the idea of a proper tailgate is well-and-truly fucked. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that any idea of even a minimal tailgate is somewhat of a fantasy. But, right now, I'm in a dark place regarding this matter.

So, what say y'all? How we gonna play this?

Please try to respond at your earliest convenience. The thread will un-stick on Saturday. Also, if you're conversing regularly with any of our non-CTN posters, please gather and share their thoughts with us.

I will actually be there with my PA buddy, Kristy. How about a true potluck? If the tents and tables could be set up as well as the plates, napkins and utensils, that would be great. If you guys are able to cook something in advance, that would awesome too. I'm having a hard time thinking of what I could bring given that I'll be coming to the game straight from work. Hmmmmm, maybe a burrito and taco bar? It would be easy to bring fixings. I'm just brainstorming. Whatever y'all want to do will be more than good

I plan on sitting in rush hour traffic in an attempt to get into the Chemistry Lot between 5:30 and 6:00 pm, then walk to Wallace Wade via Blue Devil Alley for some socializing.

One option is to go the soulless route and have store bought snacks available. Or a true potluck could work.

Since we won't be toting Blue Smoke onto campus with a pig, my initial hope was to fire it up at Chez TNT with a few pork butts early in the morning, and bring the finished 'cue to tailgate. That is still an option, but since we have a such a limited window for parking, setting up, and eating, I'm less optimistic. It will be easier to think about a menu once we have a better idea of who's coming. I have a feeling that what we all expected to be the biggest tailgate of the year is in fact going to be our smallest.

There'll be at least 4 of us and we're flexible with menu plans. The university plans just make no damn sense whatsoever. And they've had a year or two for formulating this ridiculous arrangement. I'm especially glad I planned ahead 2-3 months ago and took the afternoon off so I could sit in Triangle rush hour traffic for who knows how long, compounded by game traffic for what I expect will be our best attended game this season.

I go back to my original comments when this Thursday game was first announced. Football and Saturday afternoon go together like cops and doughnut shops, peanut butter and jelly...you get my point.

Well, TigerDevil and I likewise took off the whole afternoon intending to be there around 3pm so I could set up shop with a large poster of Rashad McCants to tease all the Tarbabies as they walked in, since that idea is nixed by the admins parking rules, we'll probably still get there around 4-4:30 and meander... even if we have to park in the Bryan Center parking deck. We may also have 2 additional with us.

I spoke with David Brochu on the phone this morning. He will come by Saturday morning this week and speak to us, specifically Tim and Chris, and tell us what will be able to do. The official policy is what it is. What we will be able to do might be somewhat more lenient and agreeable, but I don't know yet. Hopefully, the situation won't be as dire as we fear.

I think we should have a pot of hot coffee and a pot of hot chocolate. We can all gather under the tent and yell, "Go to hell, Carolina, go to hell" to any and everyone who passes by as we sip our warm beverages. Then we can all go in to the game, tanked up on caffeine and hot chocolate where we continue yelling, "Go to hell, Carolina, go to hell!"

We will be a family of 4 (cheerson/DUMB alum is flying in from Atlanta for the game). We are planning to get there at 5:30 or earlier if we can park earlier. I do not think we will have any cheer families coming into town for a weeknight game, but I will send out an email to confirm.

I am game for contributing to a potluck. Unless traffic is really bad I should be able to bring hot food because our drive to campus is usually less than 15 minutes.

I know Sam is planning to arrive early - possibly mid-day. Maureen works in Durham so she can probably arrive by 5:00. I'll be coming from Burlington and can't leave until Dan finishes basketball practice, so he and I probably will arrive just in time to go in for the game
