Duke @ Memphis Game Thread

Post by Bob Green » September 1st, 2013, 9:08 am

It is never too early to start the game thread. It is time to build off yesterday's big win and whip the Tigers.

The line gives Duke a 6 point edge, which seems like a low guess to my non-gambling self. I don't know anything about Memphis other than we beat them pretty soundly last year.

Memphis Head Coach Justin Fuente discusses the upcoming game against Duke:

http://www.gotigersgo.com/sports/m-foot ... 13aad.html
On what he expects from Duke offensively"I expect them to get the ball to No. 3 (junior wide receiver Jamison Crowder). He is a special playmaker for them. I feel like watching them, that Crowder is their electric play-making kid. Their quarterback (junior Anthony Boone) is a dynamic playmaker. He will carry the ball a little bit, and make some plays with his feet and his arm. A lot of that for them starts up front. They are experienced up front, and they are pretty darn good."
A lot more thoughts available in the article.

Here is a link to my game preview at BDN, so give it a read:

To jump to the chase, I predict a 31-13 Duke victory.

Laura Keeley game preview:

She says Memphis' strength is their power running game out of 2-back sets. Her prediction: Duke 38, Memphis 21.

Pretty solid win considering the loss of Boone. Obviously too many mistakes on offense with the turnovers, but our defense was great. I feel more confident for GT after Connette stepped up and handled the game like a guy we can depend on.
