Newest Painting
Everything I've been working on for the last year has been building up to me being in a comfort zone. It's a place where I can paint with and without fear, where I'm happy with not only the image on the paper but all the shapes, lines, and tones that define that image. It's the zone where I can be happy with what I've finished before I've started, and scared by what I know won't work. It's also this painting.
I am finally loose again. I'm gonna be hitting up a lot of galleries very soon.

OK. Now I'm confused. That's not your sig and what is that in the very center....the white letters? Otherwise, it's HAPPY.....just what I needed. What a lift! I understand what you say about fear. I have so little time to paint, I'm afraid to waste it by risking failure and having nothing to show for it.
See if you can get to this site and check out this guy's work.

Next time you are in Derm, you need to stop by Somerhill and check them out. This last painting of yours reminded me of some of his stuff. His name is Patrick Glover. What do you think? He sure gets a hunk of cash for each piece.
Love, Ima

That is too my sig! The white stuff is what was on his shirt, it's a shirt for another band.Ima Facultiwyfe wrote:OK. Now I'm confused. Risking failure is very important to creating art, I've got plenty of paintings that I took a risk on that didn't quite make it. I still have them though, I don't throw anything away. I've seen that guys art before, I love it. (I visited Somerhill's website recently, I hadn't heard of him before then.)

Yep, while you were answering, I went back to check. It IS your sig. You've changed it from time to time over the last couple of years. Thanks for the clarification of the little white letters. As you can see, I go over your stuff with a fine tooth comb!

I don't know anything about Jane's Addiction, but from the looks of the picture, I'd imagine that their (her? -- haha, get it? Jane's) music is loud, heavy metal, evoking strong emotion in its listeners.
I hope I'm right. If I am, then you've been able to portray sound through a visual medium, and I think that is very cool.

CBaB, are you going to email the pictures of your paintings to Jane's Addiction?

Do you remember the song from the early 90's, "been caught stealin'"? That was Jane's Addiction. I love him dressed in the pregnant lady suit stuffing food into the fake stomach. http://www.mtv.com/videos/janes-addicti ... ling.jhtmlCathyCA wrote:I don't know anything about Jane's Addiction, but from the looks of the picture, I'd imagine that their (her? -- haha, get it?
