Okay, so as many of you know I, EarlJam, was banned from the DBR (as some of you are also) a few years back by what most agree are some seriously over-sensitive moderators with perhaps a minor God complex. Anyway, months ago, I "re-applied" to DBR and began posting again. I sort of WANTED them to catch me. My post were more serious as there WERE things on the board pertaining to Duke Basketball that I thought I could make a positive contribution. I figured enough time had passed that if I made an obvious Username, and have them bust me, we'd all kind of get a laugh out of it, they'd see my new posts are more genuine, and they'd have no problem with the whole thing. Bygones, burying the hatchet, all that.
Boy was I ever wrong!
Again, I wanted to get caught, in time, so I made up an anagram of EarlJam and posted under the name: MEAL JAR.

I expected them to catch on, kind of have a chuckle, invite me back in with open arms, etc. (again, the content of my new posts was solid). Instead, I now share with you their reply. I'll leave commentary up to you, but it DID leave me with some rather astounded and comical thoughts. I will leave the identity of who exactly responded out. Here is DBR's serious reply (from May of last year - I just "unearthed" it while looking for another old e-mail). By the way, this is real.:
From DBR to EarlJam/Meal Jar:
Earl Jam/Meal Jar,
The Mod team wants you to know that we are hurt and disappointed that
you decided to return to DBR after being banned and did not contact
any of us asking how this would be done within the rules of the
boards. To merely sign up with a different ID is not appropriate. We
have puzzled at our usual glacial pace, debating what to do about this
seeing as it seemed possible you did not know that applying for
reinstatement was possible. In the end, we decided to re-ban you.
That said, you now know that it is possible to apply to come back to
DBR after being banned. We expect folks who do that to show serious
contrition and recognition of the conduct that got them banned in the
first place. It is on you to come up with words and deeds that will
show us you plan to be a different kind of poster if we allow you to
return.
So, the ball is in your court. If you wish to discuss this further,
[NAME] has volunteered to serve as the point person. You can
email him at [Name] at gmail dot com.
There it is. Thoughts?
