Obviously this thread starts with the fact that a win is long overdue.
Hoping it ends with a win that is long overdue, too.
As always against Wake, we have a chance.

Wake opens as a 3-point favorite, which means the game is even. The over/under is set at 60. I worry about Tanner Price scrambling and creating something out of nothing. We must contain him. Obviously, we cannot afford to turn the ball over or get off to a slow start. I believe we are the better team and will break the losing streak with a 35-24 victory in Winston-Salem.
My Crystal Ball says Conner Vernon has more receptions for more yards than Michael Campenaro. Add in Crowder and Scott and our passing attack is too much for the Deacs to handle.

Really hoping Jela Duncan has a big game. Wake folks were convinced they had him on signing day last year and that his choice was between Wake and South Carolina. According to them, Duke was out of it!

I feel less good about the drubbing at the hands of Stanford after last night's result. This obviously has nothing to do with with our game with Wake. One of my co-workers played football at Wake, 3 year starter in the late '90s. Went to a couple pro camps before joining the Marines.

We will not be tailgating in Devil's Alley, but the young men will be playing football so I believe a weather report is in order. First, the Winston-Salem Journal is predicting isolated showers on Saturday:
http://weather.journalnow.com/
And the GOES Weather Satellite shows clouds but no tropical storm activity:
Having solid weather information available 24/7 is great use of my tax dollars!

Since any rain won't affect my menu at home, I hope it pours. I love watching football in the rain from the comfort of my couch.

We lost 48-54 in the rain up there 2 years ago. I want a sunny day about 70 degrees. No excuses. Yea, I know both teams play in the same conditions but a muffed punt snap compounded by a stupid decision after the bad snap was the 6 point difference in that game.

The Dixie Classic Fair (next door to stadium)opened today. Fair traffic will add to the game day atmosphere.

It's wet and dark here in WS just about an hour before kickoff. The rain has stopped for now. This will be a midday game played under the lights on a wet field. The field conditions certainly support passing more than running!

I wanted to throw out my prediction... I almost forgot. If its a close game, I think Wake is more likely to win, but I actually think Duke going to win this by more than 7.
We'll see.

With a 20-10 lead 7:55 in the 3rd and the ball, victory is approaching the jaws...

That streak is history. New history being written by Conner Vernon and others. The fog rolled in and Duke rolled on!

Waaahoooo! We started with the Jarwoski's jaws, Ondijo put'm down with the tooth!
So, I was just barely off my prediction, but really, my thought process was that for Duke to win this, they'd need to have a two score lead at the waning minutes of the game. If they had to go get it on the last drive or make a stop on Wake at the very end, I thought history would bite them again.
I thought defense would make the decisive play, but I never put that in writing, so I can't take credit for that one.
Okay...how many times did you say to yourself...Aw please, just run the ball? Maybe it was just me. I like the passing game, but there are times when I want them to use these backs.
