Once again I turn to the fount of knowledge that is CTN. The OP is trying to remember the name of a book he heard reviewed on NPR a few months ago. (I've already searched there online in vain.)
It's a murder mystery that takes place in a small resort town that all but closes down in the winter. It is a popular retreat for gays. The story begins with the discovery of a dead body. No surprise there, I guess.
This doesn't sound like his usual menu of reads. He is usually engrossed in WW II stuff, founding fathers biographies and Revolutionary War. Go figure.
Anyway, I'd like to surprise him by coming up with a copy. He says I'll never find it. Sure would like to smugly hand him one.
Love, Ima

Google rocks. The search string was "npr murder mystery book resort gay" The link I gave you was the very first hit.
In other news, Google's Doodle is awesome today (if you're a trekkie)
