The 'possum was actually intent to get flying lessons. So, now that he has his proper license and test hours, he's a pilot working for Southeast Airlines. (very cut-rate, new company that features bars to hang from instead of seats) Upstart Southeast, has become quite popular amongst the 'prehinsile' set.

It's called the SEARCH feature. I searched for BARBECUE. Look what thread we have about BARBECUE. It's called: BARBECUE!

Harumph! That's too many letters. Who the hell came up with such a long title anyways? (Wow, we let this thread die almost 2 years ago. Tsk, tsk. )Lavabe wrote:It's called the SEARCH feature. I searched for BARBECUE. Look what thread we have about BARBECUE. It's called: BARBECUE!

TNT and I are thinking about new grill options for this next football season; he has found a couple on craigslist that are cool, as well as economical. Doing some research of my own, I found this site and excellent article.

The guy really does not like offset grills like I have, but happily he likes mine as one of the best for the price.
He also has this, which offers great ways of making my offset work better than it does. I love modifying stuff, so this is fun.

That's for my Char-Griller pro that you can buy at Lowes.Although it is made of lightweight metal and is not built as meticulously as more expensive models, for the price it is unbeatable. That's why I've given it my Gold Award, because it is good for the price. If you can afford a better unit, go for it, but if you want a cheap starter unit, this is the way to go.

Re: Barbecue!
When we moved into our new house my parents gave us money to get a grill as a housewarming present. I wish I had found the amaziingribs site then.CameronBornAndBred wrote:TNT and I are thinking about new grill options for this next football season; he has found a couple on craigslist that are cool, as well as economical. Nevertheless, I love "meathead's" site and have been learning a lot from the stuff he has written up there. And the food I've been able to produce off the grill has been fantastic. It's too bad we just don't eat that much meat. (And double-shame that my husband doesn't eat pork.) Some times I invite folk over as an excuse to grill a bunch of meat.
Last weekend, I followed meathead's directions for roasting rib roast, aka "prime rib", for my husband's co-workers who came over. My husband's boss said, "I'm surprised he's as thin as he is, but now I understand why he's in such a hurry to get home for lunch." HAHA.

Here is another web site on smoking meat that I found to be very interesting and useful.

Stealing from the endorsements thread...(viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3034&start=60#p126628 )
Seems like a good size to travel with, and that is important. Obviously you have had success with yours, and the principle is the same, so do you rotate your meats during your cook or leave them as is?
I like the size of that smoker lots, and the setup. I've been thinking about getting one similar (charcoal only though ;) ).DukeForester wrote:I earlier posted an endorsement of the Masterbuilt Propane Smoker. Here is what it looks like.

Re: Barbecue!
I leave them as is. On the whole chicken roasters, I start them on the breast side and then after 1.5-2 hours flip them over to finish them. This smoker is really awesome. I have not had a bad piece of meat off it yet.

At least it wasn't in the trailer. Was it damaged, or just flipped?

Re: Barbecue!
So sorry to see that.
We had wind that flipped over our grill too. It wasn't on an elevated deck though. Just a few bowed panels, but still works. We rotated the grill 90 deg and that seems to be more stable with regards to the way air flows in our backyard.
Two hopes:
--It's still functional
--If not working, that once you get past the grieving, you can enjoy the purchase of something new
Love my grill so from Austin.

Re: Barbecue!
It's banged up, but hopefully I can straighten it out. I'll look at it closer today when I get home. The lid is the most important part, if it is too out of shape then it is pretty useless. It's not much of a smoker if it lets all the smoke out.OZZIE4DUKE wrote:At least it wasn't in the trailer. Was it damaged, or just flipped?

My other large grill stayed where it was because of that reason. Thankfully I have two.bluebutton wrote: We rotated the grill 90 deg and that seems to be more stable with regards to the way air flows in our backyard.
