And this is the annual reminder that WKRP was based on a real radio station in ATLANTA, WQXI.

And the station DID a turkey promotion that served as the inspiration for the turkey drop episode:

(scroll down about a quarter of the way).

They threw live turkeys into a shopping center.

The other replay I look forward to is on "Mike and Mike in the Morning" when they replay the pre-Thanksgiving episode from a few years back when they broke themselves up reading the instructions about how to "remove the giblets from the chest cavity"! They completely lose it and I do too! The very thought of "giblets" being lost way up there where they must be retrieved is horrifying to them both! They get to laughing so hard they lose their breath and there is complete silence on the airwaves.
Love, Ima

There are usually wild turkeys wandering around Momma and Poppa Turk's house; they must be smart birds because they've been hiding. (no, I am not making that up).

And no, dear captain, not THAT Wild Turkey... :D

Very true, that they are extremely and instinctively intelligent. The slightest noises or unexpected movements will spook them away. If you should ever happen to observe those hunting them, pay attention to how camo'ed up they are. Some of the most successful are totally unseen by their prey.

Turkey hunters are a very special group that are very loyal to their craft and very conscientious toward preservation and ecology. They really enjoy what they do, can't hardly wait for the season to start and desire the chance to continue doing it for the rest of their lives. They are also all too willing to pass their knowledge on to eager learners. If I were a hunter, it would be of most importance to me. Alas, my only quarry are a few species of fish.
