For me, EarlJam, "ham" gets the slight nod over "turkey, white meat."

White meat turkey is #1, followed by honey glazed, spiral sliced ham. :happy-bouncyblue:

And on Saturday, a healthy portion of ram chops!

After my turkey comes off the smoker there won't be any white meat. :D

White meat turkey.
If I'm going for sandwiches, I prefer pastrami.
And yes... I HAVE had pastrami on Thanksgiving. :-BD

I like turkey for Thanksgiving.

I had a leftover white meat turkey sandwich for lunch today.

Yes, I'm already eating leftovers. Since we're having our Thanksgiving meal at the country club, it occurred to me that there would be no leftovers for turkey sandwiches. So, I went to the store, bought a 20 pound turkey, roasted it, and I'm eating "leftovers" all week long. At some point, I will trim the meat from the carcass and make turkey tetrazzini.

I had to vote for white-meat turkey.
My favorite vegetable is gravy. It shows, too!

SIL, Mark, is frying two turkeys for our Thanksgiving. Yum. I love me some deep fried turkey. I'm leaving in the morning for Kenansville so I can do pre-Turkey day preps, as Dawn has to work. It's going to be fun, the Shelton and Craft families blend together well.

I'm going to grill a turkey breast since we have cousins coming over, but my husband and I prefer a grass fed steak if it's just us.

Going to try my hand at blackberry pie with a gluten free crust. Hoping that turns out well.

I will be the one with a turkey drumstick firmly in my grasp. Yum.

I bought a drumstick for myself -- white meat--only if I have to. :snooty:

Bluebutton, when are you going to San Jose? Isn't your cousin's wedding this month?

Sorry, CathyCA, I totally meant to update. We went over Veteran's Day and we're back. It was grueling because the baby only really slept every other night. However, it was great to be with family.

We went to Memorial park to see the ducks and geese. Our 2 y.o. got a kick out of that. Spent a morning going to Half Moon Bay and Palo Alto cemeteries because that's where my grandparents are buried. Got cute pictures of the kids on the sunny lawn if you can get over the fact that there are headstones in the background. The wedding was great and Lil L was a cute flower girl if I do say so myself. We, however, couldn't stay for the reception because the flower girl ran out of steam--fell asleep in the car on the way home and stayed asleep for a good 2 hrs. My mom says we didn't miss anything which is a shame because my cousin is generally a very fun person. Not sure what happened to the reception.

At the end of the trip, some Duke friends who recently moved to Oakland from Tanzania drove down to spend an afternoon with us. Fantastic.

So in short, the best laid plans got wiped out by the sleepless wonder, but we had a great time doing smaller things and hanging out with family.

Thanks for asking!! And thanks again for the suggestions. we'll try them next time we go to visit family.
