Alas, this was not-to-be Duke's break-out season and I realize that some, if not many, of us are discouraged by the teams lack of success on the field. While I may weigh-in, more in-depth, on this topic in the SD thread, I'll just say this: as a 14-year season-ticket holder, I can remember when it took us five years to get three wins- total. We've improved but, we still don't quite have the talent, nor depth, to be a Wake Forest or better. But, for the first time in a long time, hell, since...EVER, we won three games in a row and competed well against three quality opponents. In other words, for the first time in years Duke actually had a chance to be bowl eligible. It just didn't work out this year.
It's coming, just takes time. In the meantime, we'll shed a great many fair-weather fans (this isn't directed at any TBCC members), but next year or, the one after, we'll get that third-tier Bowl invitation and then we'll get to say..."I remember way-back when and, even then, I KNEW WE COULD DO IT!"
Okay, so to put the finish on my pep-talk I'll just remind everybody of our unofficial motto:
On to the task at hand:Never let football ruin a good party.
Forecast: 33C (64F) and partly cloudy- a fine Indian Summer day. Given the early KO, and, IMO, the opponent, we're going to go minimal on breakfast offerings and instead focus efforts on "late lunch". I understand that DukePA has something special up in her lab coat but, I'll leave it to her.
