I'm sorry to say that Amy Mickleson's husband faltered at the very end, because they have a scary situation, but I love when relative unknowns win majors. It changes their life forever in a positive way. It also repudiates the mindless Tiger-bots in a forceful way.

It would have been great for the Mickelsons to have Phil win his first US Open during his wife's treatment. I say that as someone who dislikes Phil Mickelson more than any other player on tour and generally pulls against him at every turn.

I suppose there's always the British or the PGA, although Phil didn't play well the last time it was at Hazeltine.

I was quite surprised at how well Phil played considering their situation. The announcers early on were wondering how well he would play considering the last time his wife's health was in jeopardy he didn't play well at all.

I started pulling for Padraig Harrington. Hey, he's Irish, I'm Irish, it's a no brainer. Once he was eliminated I was pulling for Glover and Barnes, as they were virtual unknowns. Nothing against Phil, I like pulling for the underdogs when I don't have a dog in the proverbial fight.
