Duke Vs. Tulane

Post by CameronBornAndBred » September 19th, 2011, 8:18 am

Coming off an ugly and honestly lucky victory, Duke now faces Tulane at home. For bowl hopes, this is a must win game.

Can't wait for the game! This will be my first of the year. My father and I will be traveling in from Nashville and we cannot wait to see Duke get in the Victory formation two weeks in a row! My sister graduated from Tulane so I hope to be able to poke a lil' fun at her by the end of the game. Go Duke! :)

Do you have any scouting info on Tulane?

I know they dropped 49 points on UAB while only allowing 10 last weekend after getting beat by Tulsa 31-3 the previous week. They are 2-1 on the year. Their other win was against SE LA. We are favored by 10 points. Tulane's coach hasn't had a winning season since arriving at Tulane. They ran for 250 yards last week so I would expect them to try to duplicate some of that success this week.

Sounds like Duke will need to employ the same sort of defense that stopped the run in the second half against BC.

Here is my look at Duke's statistical performance over the first three games:

Kenny Anunike's performance at Defensive End is noteworthy.

This week's injury report is out and it is long. For starters, Connette, Scott and Snead are all still out so Juwan Thompson will have to handle all the running duties by himself. More concerning is CB Ross Cockrell is listed as Questionable. We do not have a lot of experience/depth at cornerback and Cockrell has been solid so far this season. WR Tyree Watkins is also Questionable along with K Will Snyderwine.

The full list has been posted by Jim Sumner at DBR.

Kenny Anunike left the field today on a golf cart/truck with a huge ice pack on his knee. Nothing official yet but Jim Sumner reported over on DBR that he might be out for the year and Cut said in the post-game that he'd give him one of his legs. If he is done for the year, it would be a huge loss. :(

Lee Butler also left the field on a cart and Walt Canty walked off with no pads or jersey. No reports at all on either of their injuries. Will Snyderwine looked good while making a 40 yd FG.
[redacted] them and the horses they rode in on.

Coach Cut TV show was on WTVD 11. I am sure you can watch it online, or archived.

Good win! Now, on to Florida! I would jump up and down, but I can't with 2 broken toes. :happy-bouncyblue: :happy-bouncyblue: :duke:
