Panther's Football, 2011

Post by CameronBornAndBred » August 10th, 2011, 2:08 pm

Dammit!!!
Of course we've got a long way before the regular season opener Sept. 11, but Clausen is QB-1 (Friday Night Lights anyone?) on the coaching staff's first depth chart of the preseason. That makes newcomer Derek Anderson third.
Clausen sucks, I want to see what Cam Newton can do in a cats' jersey.

I definitely wasn't thrilled with Clausen's performance last year, but then again I wasn't impressed with anything about the team from last year. We had problems from the top of the organization all the way down to the towel boys. Clausen had the horrible fortune for standing in as the token punching boy for an anemic offense, haphazardly put together by lame duck coaches. You couldn't pay me enough money to stand in the same formation all day long running the same plays. I've seen high schools run more complicated offenses.

It's too early to write-off Clausen and I think way too early to throw Cam into the mix. Remember what happened last year when Clausen was asked to carry more than he could handle? Derek Andersen certainly doesn't belong at the 1 or 2, so I like Clausen getting the early nod since he's been through training camp and preseason before. Hopefully Clausen and Andersen set a good example for Cam on how to conduct himself in meetings, in the locker room, film room, and on the field. And since Clausen is a legitimate contender for the starting position, hopefully we'll see some fight in Cam to earn the starting spot.

Look forward to seeing the game Saturday night.

Yay!!
Top draft pick Cam Newton will start at quarterback for the Carolina Panthers in their second preseason game Friday.
Rivera said he would likely announce next week which player will start in the opener Sept. 11 against Arizona.

This is the first Panthers thread I have seen on here. I am not really sure what to think about the Panthers, I have a hard time pulling for them for some reason. I do hope they improve from last season, but there is something about that color of blue they wear, and all the Tarhole fans that pull for the Panthers and the fact that Mick Mixion Mr. former UNC radio guy is calling their games. I have tried to shy away from pulling for Carolina for along time, but I do hope they have a good season. What do you guys think? Are the Carolina Panthers a Carolina Tarheel orginization? :happy-bouncyblue:

Nope. True, MM is calling the plays, but he also turned down returning to the unc booth to take over for Woody. Add to that fact that the only standout heel they had was Julius Peppers, and they let him go away pissed off, it adds more credence to the "not a heel team" belief. I do think that the Bobcats are hole based, but then they have MJ running that show.
I was born and raised a Steelers fan, and still pull for them as long as they ain't playing the Cats, but I've fully embraced the Panthers as my team. And yes, their color is leaning the baby blue way, but it's a bit more electric.

No sporks needed. The past ten years of Eagles postseason performances are hilarious enough to counteract his comment and keep order in the universe. ;)
