Duke Libraries ROCK

Post by Lavabe » April 8th, 2011, 3:52 pm

Just wanted to post that I am spending my time this afternoon and all day tomorrow in Duke's Libraries. Today, it's the Lilly Library on East Campus. Tomorrow, it's Perkins (for the 1st time in 20+ years).

Way cool access to articles I didn't know.

Duke Libraries do, indeed, rock!

Thirty years ago, my friends at Wake Forest and in Chapel Hill used to ask me to check out books for them from the Duke libraries. We had resources that their schools could only dream about! I would check out the books my friends needed, they would come by and make copies of the pertinent parts or take the books and then mail them back to me.

I'm glad you're having fun this weekend, Lavabe!

There's a library? Was I supposed to know that as student? :ymblushing:

Damned if I know. I remember venturing into Perkins twice my freshman year. Once during orientation week, and then once again a few weeks later looking for something I couldn't find. Never went back. Never went to the library in the Engineering building in four years either. I heard stories of people using something called "the stacks" for purposes other than studying, but those stories go into the TMI thread ;)

I did have a class in Perkins. I don't remember much of it because I think I spent most of it staring at Bob Bender. :D

B and I found Lavabe in Perkins Library, and we found a coffee shop there. :happy-bouncyblue: :happy-bouncyblue:

I found a few too many margaritas in the bar at the Washington Duke tonight, after my 20 year reunion... :obscene-drinkingdrunk:

If there had been a coffee shop in Perkins when I was a student, I'd have been a Phi Beta Kappa. :D

That was fun today. Good meeting you!!

Weird, I dreamed last night that I met Lavabe at Perkins Library.

Guess I need to stop reading CTN before bedtime? :-\
