Bud's record-breaking hyperbaric dive
I read my mom's post about the stupid history channel ignoring my dad. Here's a link to a cool article about the 2,132 ft dive in 1981.

Shrinking styrofoam cups makes it awfully tough to mix a Mimosa in.

Thanks for posting this article. I was fascinated (like the good Capt) with the incredible shrinking Styrofoam, and really impressed with what Bud and the others went through.

LOL! He still has one of the styrofoam cups. It's teeny tiny adorable.

The styrofoam cups may not be good for mimosas, but they would be perfect for shots!

I believe I pass by that chamber everyday, sometimes 3-4 times a day. Was your dad in the one in Duke South or is that a new one?
Very impressive. Thank you, Bud, for allowing yourself to being a trail blazer!

Definitely cool. I never really knew what a proud heritage of that kind of experimentation we had at Duke. Is this unit still operational?

It is, Wilson. Did you know that that the Physician Assistant profession was created at Duke? The first class graduated in 1967. Bud never applied to PA schooled, he just started showing up to class then finally graduated in 1974.

I did not know that. I will add it to my file of random Duke facts to dispense to the general public.DukePA wrote:It is, Wilson.
