Re: Ymm, Beer!
I have not seen the Gordon I2PA yet but I am hopeful now that I have seen 3 other Oskar products at Total Wine. Pricey? Ha! Life is too short to drink bad/cheap beer... (of course, I refuse to spring for a $15-16 750 ml product from the Rogue folks just because you are paying mostly for their fancy...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Returned from Craft Brew Fest after a spectacular few hours of beer drinking. Huge crowds limited the number of beers that I could sample but still had some excellent ones..Top 5 in no order were -- Deschutes Mirror Mirror Barleywine--Thanks to the RMD and Devildeac, this was my first stop... -- 200...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
So.thanks to a generous friend and understanding wife, I am officially set to attend American Craft BeerFest on Saturday... Here is the brewery/beer list..I'm most excited to check out Foothills, Duck Rabbit, Deschutes, and Surly since I can't find any of those locally. Any other recommendations for...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Great Divide 15--Really enjoyed this beer. Pours a deep amber. Its listed as a double IPA but has a huge caramel malt taste up front. The hops come in next and although the bitterness is there, its fairly subtle. The whole thing is wrapped up in a very noticeable oaky blanket. Very easy drinking. Th...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Yes, Stone not Great Divide..Sorry about that..was thinking a little too much about the GD 15..did you find some? I haven't looked yet. I'm sure I'll be able to find some, but if not I'll stop off at the brewery this weekend and grab a few bombers. At Avery last weekend I was disappointed to see th...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Lagunitas Maximus--One of their double IPAs and a fairly tasty one. This was lighter on the hops than expected with a fair amount of malt..decent overall but not too memorable. Hop Stoopid by them is much much better... Great Divide Ruination..hands down the best of the bunch. While there is a bit ...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Page 2---and half way down..time for a bump It's been an IPA stretch for me so I think I'll lump them all together and compare/contrast in order of enjoyment.. Lagunitas Sumpin Sumpin--Big fan of Lagunitas but I was a little disappointed in this. I'm not sure if this should be considered an IPA as i...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Special haul today. Picked up a bottle of Odell Brewing Co. (Ft. Collins, CO) Woodcut #2. This is the second in their oak aged series. The beer is aged for six months in virgin oak barrels before bottling. They only produced 350 cases (up from 175 last year) and each bottle is numbered and signed b...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
1. The Westvleteren is a great idea. Make sure you have a nice credit limit available on your Visa/MC if they actually have some. :D 2. Try some Rogue Old Crustacean, McRogue Scotch Ale or Imperial Stout and be sure to ask for it in the 7 ounce pony bottles or "nips." :D 3. Sam Adams Triple Bock fr...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
DFH Olde School Barleywine. I've been on the hunt for this for some time and finally came across a 4 pack at a store that likes to keep a stash of cellared beer (they have an impressive collection dating back 5+ years). I also grabbed a bomber of double bastard from them. Wow, the Olde School is a ...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Have you tried Great Divide's Old Ruffian? It's a sear-your-tastebuds beer. Since it sounds like we have some serious BW fans here, I'll give it a huge recommendation. Also, Lost Abbey is a wonderful brewery. They are the "high end" label of the Port Brewing Co. (which is also fantastic) out of San...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Speakeasy Old Godfather--This is a pretty average barleywine. Fairly sweet and malty but also a decent hop presence. Definitely more in the Bigfoot style of barleywines though a bit less bitter. The one negative was the alcohol burn which was too present compared to other high alcohol brews that hid...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Each year that I sample new barleywines, I like Bigfoot less. I'd rather have Old Horizontal, Monster, Old Foghorn, Blithering Idiot and Old Boardhead. And the next group, which would not be too far behind, would be Hog Heaven, Old Knucklehead, Olde School, Duck-Rabbit and Schlafly's. I'm sure I le...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Speaking of bad on the wallet...I found an incredible store yesterday in the Boston area with a huge selection and guilt free mixed six packs..they actually have boxes of empty four and six packs waiting to be filled with all sorts of blends. Needless to say, I filled 2 six packs with a bunch of un...
