Re: Should we outlaw any and almost all PP type discussions
I had been posting on the DBR PPB since the "code" days and I couldn't really say, definitively, that it had gotten that much worse. I seem to recall a few threads from the "code days" involving "Anabasis" that got down right nasty. The "community" may have gotten a good bit larger (having to wait ...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Pretty Things Jack D'Or...A very small local brewer producing only a handful of beers. This one is a saison.. Pours a deep straw color with a fairly large head. Taste is dominated by sharp white wine dryness. This is offset slightly by some tart fruit and citrusy hops. A bit of funk though far less...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Tried to order some of the Great Divide (?) oak-aged Yeti Imperial stout (on draft) for my dessert/with my dessert last PM at Tyler's Taproom but they were out of it. :( :( :( :( :( and :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( Too bad. That's a delicious beer. They now make four varieties of the Yetti. There's original...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
I'm brewing tonight. Which means 3 weeks from today, an interesting wheat beer will be ready for drinking. Highlights of the recipe are sweet orange peel coriander paradise seed This should be a well spiced classic wheat with plenty of citrus notes. We'll see before the month is up. wow...sounds in...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Stone 09-09-09 vertical epic..While I like english porters like Sam Smiths taddy porter, I've never been a huge fan of baltic porters which often taste to me like weak imperial stouts..this was one of the better ones that I've tried. Pours a dark brown, nearly black with only a little head. Taste u...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
I've been thinning out existing beer stashes over the past week so haven't tried anything new but today I did score a bottle of Stone 09-09-09 Vertical Epic..and while the label tells me I should wait until 2012, I'm actually only going to wait until about 930 tonight..apparently, this year's versio...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Great stuff, 8-x . Seriously. Not only should rmd, bluebear (where are you?), CB&B, other hopheads/beer snobs and I sincerely appreciate this from a personal and friendship standpoint, but we should appreciate it from a beer hunter's standpoint. This is a classic beer review and you have posted the...

A tip of the Blue Devil FB cap to bluebear for this recommendation: BORIS Bodacious Oatmeal Russian Imperial Stout As in BORIS, the Crusher-Hoppin' Frog Brewing Company-Akron, Ohio-This became my 2nd fav Imperial Stout tonight after the Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. This is a deep, deep brown and...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Left Hand Oak Aged Imperial Stout--After CB&Bs positive review of Left Hand, I finally pulled the trigger and grabbed one of their bombers..Glad I did as this is a very good imperial stout...Pours a brownish black with a bit more head than the typical imperial stout. Up front, the taste is very smo...

Now you've done it...I have one of those myself which I had hoped to age for a few years in my cellar. It was out of sight and out of mind....but now I'm thinking about it.devildeac wrote:It just might be cool enough down here tonight to have 1/2 a bomber of BORIS, the Crusher. ;)

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Founders Devil Dancer--A Triple IPA coming in at a whopping 13% ABV. Pours a dark orange/amber color. Pretty substantial malt kick up front with lots of sweet caramel tastes. This is followed by lots and lots of hoppy bitterness. The hops taste of pine but there is a boldness that also reminds me o...

Mean Manalishi Double IPA-Hoppin' Frog Brewing-Akron, Ohio ATTN: rmd and bluebear 168 IBU. Do I really need to write anything else?  ;) :D Seriously, I will tomorrow night. Outta time tonight and I'll finish the bomber tomorrow night. This is a strange choice for a celebratory brew. 16...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Anything I should have from the Boston area before I get out of town? Best of luck with the move and the new job.. Allagash is a great recommendation..Their standard belgian beers (dubbel, trippel, etc) are great but I'd go with either Curieux or Interlude..Both are relatively easy to find around h...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Even more interesting is that the Green Flash beers never make it here except the West Coast IPA. No Russian River brews either. New Belgium kept all their stuff in Colorado (or at least west of St. Louis) until this spring when their session beers like Mothership Wit, 1554, Skinny Dip and Fat Tire...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
That's funny because although the selection is good around here, I'm always jealous of those west coast and midwest brewers (like New Belgium) which make it down to you but not up to NE..not to mention Duck Rabbit and Foothills and CB&B creations.. I hope you get to try one of mine soon. Speaking o...
