Re: Ymm, Beer!

Oskar Blues-Gubna IIPA Full disclosure, this beer was supposed to end up in DD's trader but I wasn't sure how the can would handle the flight back to NC. So I decided against it and am now (as I'm trying the beer for the first time) regretting it. I should have given you one and told you to drink w...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

Ommegang Belgian Pale Ale--One of several one time releases they have planned for this year. Pours a medium straw color with a huge head. Taste can best be described as a cross between a triple and an ipa. Decent amount of hoppiness up front with lots of pine. Not too much bitterness. The esters com...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

Quite a nice exchange with rmd earlier today. :D I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the Brabant, and especially to hear how much the brett comes through after a year plus. I still have two more bottles that I'm saving for a future date. Had some "fresher" Brabant earlier in the year and re...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

Found a new store yesterday with lots of beers that I have yet to try along with some hard to find favorites (Ballast Point Sculpin was the prize of the haul).. First up last night was Red Racer IPA by Central City Brewing..Another canned beer. Although not quite the same style, the guy at the beer ...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

Found Nemesis at a small wine and beer shop in J'ville, NC this afternoon during a little beer hunting with CB&B. :D :D Note to CB&B: I'll save that 4th Nemesis for you. Promise. Great find!! Can't wait to read the review. No luck up here yet but I've been told that it'll reach MA this week (of cou...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

I've got Gordon which I hope to taste soon. It's an imperial red ale and rmd may have reviewed it some months ago. Gordon is excellent..I always thought it was an IIPA but you are quite correct about it being an imperial red. There was an OB rep doing a tasting at my local store a few weeks back an...

Yeah, the BA rasputin is pricey..one of a few splurge beers last year..holding off opening for a special occasion.
Like, say, two Duke victories in Indianapolis this April? B-) B-) B-) B-) B-)
I can't think of a better thing to celebrate..

Re: Ymm, Beer!

Great reviews..I had part of one the other day along with Stone IRS and Ten Fidy and Old Rasputin is definitely the boldest of the 3. Big roasted flavor and I picked up a lot of espresso. The Stone and Oscar Blues were both sweeter and a bit smoother overall. I like all 3 nearly equally but for ver...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

Old Rasputin Imperial Stout I have two of these, one each from DD & 8-x . I've had it before, it's a favorite stout, but haven't reviewed it. I might as well since I've got to stay awake for another hour and a half while I can my oysters. The roasted malts jump instantly on your taste buds and do o...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

A beer to keep an eye out for.. Founders nemesis.. A wheatwine aged in maple syrup and bourbon barrels. It's suppose to be excellent. Apparently, it's going to hit the shelves up here in MA this week but it's definitely already out in most of the Midwest and down in NC.

Re: Ymm, Beer!

Has anyone had Victory St. Victorious? I've never seen this one before but grabbed a few bottles of it today. Was planning on giving it a try tonight though I may be forced to drink something more bitter if the 2nd half is not better than the 1st..

Re: Ymm, Beer!

Victory Hop Wallop--Might have reviewed this one in the past but a new batch has made its way up to this area and I grabbed a 6 pack pack which I cracked open last night. Pours a nice dark straw color. Huge hop kick with lots of pine and grapefruit. Bitter bite throughout but crisp and refreshing. ...
