Re: Ymm, Beer!
Double Simcoe IPA-Weyerbacher Brewing-It's really an IIPA and a darned good one. Can I hear a request for Tropicana fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice, please? A well-balanced brew with tons of a single variety of hops, Simcoe, of course. I'd guess the IBU to be 80-90 range as I'd expect from a double...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Nemesis-Founders Brewing-Outrageous brew. Secret IBU and ABV but I found a couple reviews on-line and I believe it's 12% ABV and I'd guess the IBU to be about 70. This is a reddish-orange-brown barleywine style ale (they call it a wheat wine) with a bit of sourness from the wheat. I believe it is m...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
They don't "take " recipes from homebrewers. They actually have to brew the beer and enter it in a homebrewers competition and then SA selects the winners every year and brews the beer and releases is nationally. I think it's great that they started doing that again after about a 10 year absence. R...

Wow..quite a haul..I don't think anyone can lose in those negotiations.devildeac wrote: Oh, and I forgot Heresy and Double Simcoe IIPA.
And, the 2009 release of Samichlaus.
Plus, bombers of Green Flash IIPA, Triple and one I honestly can't recall to save my life at the
Negotiations with CB&B TF.

Re: Ymm, Beer!
6 pack of SA's brewer series, where they take recipes submitted by homebrewers. Just reviewed 2 of them, with 1 more to try..looking forward to hearing what the 2 of you think about them.. Ha! So you did. If you search you'll find where I posted about my next brew, which will be using a saison yeas...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Dark Horse Reserve Black Bier Ale--A new brewery for me and I grabbed a single of this beer and a 4 pack of their Double Crooked Tree (IIPA). This one is listed a strong ale but really could almost be a stout. Pours nearly black with a light head. The initial taste is lots of dark toasted malts whic...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Sam Adams Long Shot Old Ben's Ale--I love Old Ales and was excited to give this one a try. Pours a deep amber. True to the style, this is all malt with a lot of sweet caramel and brown sugar. Surprising amount of dark fruit. Despite liking sweeter Old Ales and Barleywines, this one was a bit too sug...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Sam Adams Long Shot Lemon Pepper Saison--I was very tentative in trying this as it made me think too much about lemon pepper chicken which is fine as chicken but not as beer...but having had both spicy and citrusy saisons, I hoped for the best. While not a bad beer, I was a little disappointed..Pour...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Just got a call from dd, he and 8-X are outside Total Wine in Alexandria asking if I wanted to place an order. I told them to call me back when they figure out what they should bring back. :D Order placed. Mmmmmmm. Surprisingly no Dogfish De 'Extra, World Wide Stout or 120 in stock. Devildeac said ...

Had this one Sunday night. I'm still celebrating: http://www.foundersbrewing.com/foundersnew/beer/ Folks, this is amazing. Kentucky Breakfast Stout, or KBS by the folks at Founders. This is nearly pitch black with a modest medium tan head and the coffee, dark chocolate and bourbon will knock you on...

Goose Island Night Stalker---I'm a huge fan of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout as it could be my favorite stout..Night Stalker is another big imperial stout by them at just over 11% ABV. Pours dark brown to black with a light head. Very interesting taste with a surprising amount of piney hops for ...

Re: The Chronicle on Tuesday
Wish you'd asked yesterday. I am on campus everyday as I work at the medical center, would have been happy to pick up an extra copy for you or anyone else who wanted one. I'll see if I can get one for today, though it's not the same as having yesterday's. Thanks..I have a little collection of previ...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Celebratory beers. Did anyone drink anything special last night? I went with Lost Abbey Angels Share, a barrel aged barley wine. Corked and caged 375 ml bottle..2 year old vintage. Pours a thick sludgy brown. Big bourbon taste with notes of vanilla. An earthy musty oak taste that cuts down on some o...

I caved. I went to TW today to pick up a house guest gift for Lavabe and found 4 packs of Burton Baton, Hercules IIPA and bombers of Dugana and Fritz and Ken's Ale. They are now residents of my beer storage facility, aka my garage :ymblushing: . Great haul..Can't wait to hear what you think of the ...

Sierra Nevada Fritz and Ken's Ale--The first of several 30th Anniversary beers that SN has planned for this year. Corked 750ml bottle. An imperial stout that pours black with a surprisingly large head. Lots of toasted malts with dark chocolate and espresso. Very hoppy as one would expect from SN wit...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
I'm having NB Trippel. Nothing special tonight. I'll save that for a week from tomorrow (Deschutes Mirror Mirror is the likely culprit). BTW, where did you try Avery Black Tot? I haven't seen it and assumed it was brewery only except for a few lucky bars who got some (their second in the barrel age...
