Re: Ymm, Beer!
Flying Dog Raging Bitch...Belgian IPA. Pours a nice amber though fairly thin looking for 8.3% ABV. Strong bitter hops up front with both pine and grapefruit. Decent malt balance that gives way to a yeasty and slightly funky finish. Really well done for this style with just the right blend of hops a...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Saison Du Buff--Collaboration between Victory, Stone, and Dogfish head (3 of my favorite brewers). Mine came in a stone bottle though I heard each are brewing separate batches. It's a saison brewed with parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. Pours a nice light cloudy yellow. Dry pilsnery taste with hop...

Re: Kindles and iPads and Nooks, oh my!
I love my ipad..I've only spent a limited amount of time on a kindle so I can't fairly compare the e-reading experience but I've read a handful of books on the ipad and found it very enjoyable. I've also converted all my magazine subscriptions over to my ipad (via the Zinio app and stand alone apps)...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Here are a couple of additional "shelf shots" I took at the Bulldog. Anything else strike your fancy? All that stuff is available at Total WIne except 4 packs of Ten Fidy (occasionally) and the Gub'na. I'll take a 4 pack of each and will share with CB&B. If he's nice ;) :D . I can't make out the br...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Racer 5-Bear Republic-Healdsburg, California New brew to me. I have seen several flavors around from this brewery but never sampled one until a drug rep gave me a bottle a couple weeks ago and I enjoyed the bomber over the last couple nights. Solid IPA with a slightly golden-yellow color with a nic...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Agreed with Bigfoot, though I learned to buy a 6er and have one a year for 5-6 years and, by the 2nd or 3rd year, the brutalness of the hops has softened and it takes on more of an aged scotch/whiskey-ish taste. I did not include Old Crusty either as I have not had one for 5 years or more since the...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Sam Adams Long Shot Mile High Barleywine..A very enjoyable barleywine, my favorite of the new long shot set..Pours a deep amber/brown. This is definitely more of an english barleywine as rich sweet malts dominate. Lots of caramel and a bit of dark fruit. There is some piney hop presence though its ...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
My error. You are correct. It is Bourbon County Stout. I have had a buncha bourbon barrel stouts this winter and that phrase has just stuck with me :twitch: . I should have had 6 ounces one night and then finished the bottle the next night. I was hoping it was a new one that I could try to hunt dow...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Clipper City Letter of Marque--I guess Clipper City, like Sam Adams, has a homebrew contest with the winner getting to mass produce their creation..Don't know how log they've been doing this but this is the first one I've seen. This brew is a Rye Porter and very well done. Pours a very dark reddish ...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Bourbon Barrel Stout-Goose Island One of their reserve, limited release series. Awesome brew. As expected, it starts out as an onyx pour with a small, medium tan head and a bouquet of licorice, molasses and dark chocolate with a hint of deeply roasted espresso. It is an imperial stout and has a mod...

Despite being a huge fan of DFH, I've never had either of these..or Pangea..those big bottles scare me off..Lavabe wrote:Tomorrow is the anthropological taste-testing of DFH's Chateau Jiahu and Theobroma. Will fill you in on the responses of the anthropologists.

Drink and discuss. ;) :D Awesome list and thanks for the link. I browsed the list, and was happy to notice that it for the most part in alphabetical order, I would never put Steam that high on any list, but it would make a top fifty. I'm painting, but I'll look at the actual link when I'm less dist...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Light weekend for sampling for me though last night I cracked open a Pursuit of Hoppiness by Grand Teton Brewing. Nice 1L bottle (hopefully will keep for a few days) with a swing top lid. An Amber ale..Pours a nice deep orange red with a modest head. Wow..I really enjoyed this one. Lots of pine and ...

Ridiculously good haul for me yesterday (though no so good for my wallet)...First up.. Ommegang Tripel Perfection--The 2nd in their series of specialty beers this year. It has surprised me that Ommegang does not have a tripel as part of their regular line-up and I hope this is transitioned over. Cor...

Re: Ymm, Beer!
Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree..An IIPA but at 13% ABV it's a real beast. Pours an thick brownish amber. Up front is a huge burst of piney hops with an almost oily consistency. Some sweeter malts follow for balance. A nice but not too overwhelming bitter finish. This is an excellent brew. It's ridic...
