Re: Ymm, Beer!

Great Ghost of Lavabe, he's baaaaaaaaaaaaack! Welcome back to the family! Nice re-entry post ;) :D . I think I saw this on their web site but not sure I have seen it in any stores back east, though a very nice assortment of GD brews can be found at Total Wine now. I think my next purchases will be ...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

I'll spare the dramatic return (and excuses for not being here in a LONG while) and simply say that life caught up with me in a wonderful way and that has, unfortunately, kept me from posting here at CT. I do hope to be in here more often than the past 18 months, especially to read Ymm, Beer! With t...

Back from hiatus

Hi all, I'm back from a hiatus--life has caught up with me, but in a very good way--and wanted to drop in and say hello. I can't guarantee I'll be around the boards too often, but I will be in Section 21 for games (football and bball) in the coming weeks. Hope everyone at CTN is doing well and look ...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

Mountain Sun is on Pearl Street a block or so off the the pedestrian mall. I had a great BLT and enjoyed the Rasp. Wheat with the meal. It was very hot out and the beer quenched my thirst. The Colorado Kind Ale I had for dessert was very hoppy and a brew I would buy even though I am not a confirmed...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

August 28th, Louisville Zoo: Brew at the Zoo. Will be there. If possible, get a list of the breweries before you go and determine which ones you would really like to try. That ensures that you get to sample the beer you're most looking forward to before you destroy your tastebuds and get drunk. My ...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

Beer folks--work and girlfriend have cut into my beer consumption of late, but, wanted to let you all know that I was able to snag four bottles of this: http://thefullpint.com/beer-news/avery-quinquepartite-the-rarest-brew-to-date-in-barrel-aged-series It's Avery's Quinquepartite, the fifth in thei...

Re: Brett Favre to retire YET AGAIN

No way Favre doesn't play this season. As the Pro Football Talk post linked above nicely says, this current "story" is about (1) feeding Favre's narcism by making him the story for the next month and making the Vikings crawl on the floor and beg him to come back (which took about 13 hours) and (2) p...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

This Friday--during an outdoor showing of "Where the Wild Things Are"--I'll be cracking open a pair of 2009 Deschutes Reserve beers. The first is the Mirror Mirror Oak Aged Barleywine and the second Black Butte Imperial Porter. Will post thoughts on both over the weekend. I may also open something f...

Re: Food Product Idea - Requesting Your Input

Combos (the delicious snack from the fine people at Mars) used to make a mustard pretzel variety that I loved as a kid. It has been discontinued, but there is precedent.

Re: Soccer, footie, football, futbol

Since I've been absent, I'll quickly chime in on something that has bugged me since the US lost to Ghana. On the game winner by Ghana, US CAPTAIN (!!!!!) Carlos Bocanegra quit on the play. He gave up well before the ball was in the net. The media completely ignored this fact. But, in the bar I watch...

Re: Soccer, footie, football, futbol

The offsides was the right call, IMO. The offside player created space for the goal to be scored and, therefore, Paraguay obtained an advantage from him being offsides. I think it's the right call.

Re: Ymm, Beer!

Hey folks, I've been MIA for a few weeks for a host of reasons that I won't bore you all with. I should be around more in the near future. For the sake of making this post relevant to the thread, tonight I'm having The Gubna along with some jungle curry with chicken. Both beer and food are delicious.

Re: Help Me Settle a Shallow Argument - Flight

I've always felt that the Buckeye State had the bette claim. Here's why: N.C.'s slogan is "First in Flight." The language used insinuates that the people who were the "first in flight" were North Carolinians. (if not, what does it mean?) They weren't. They were Ohioans and, therefore, Ohioans were t...

Re: Ymm, Beer!

I am not sure where to begin this review but I promise it will be short after searching out this review and re-reading it. I don't have much to add to this thorough description. One of the most unique brews I have ever tasted. Sour/tart-you bet. From the brett yeasts. Fruity-got that, too, with hin...
