Re: LTE 2.0
My grandmother passed today, 11 days shy of her 103rd birthday. Ruth Gwendolyn was born Sept. 7, 1909. Finally at rest, eternally at peace.
Re: LTE 2.0
My new choir does a dinner theatre every year to raise funds. The theme for this season's show (coming in January) is the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. I need to pick a song; I'm hoping that "You'll Never Walk Alone" hasn't already been claimed. Any other suggestions? Oh, so many options. My fi...

Re: Olympic Thread
Speaking of gymnastics coverage, did the mens' competition drop the rings? I watched all the primetime men's coverage, and never saw a single rings performance, but I thought I heard the announcers talk about the scores on the rings.

Re: Olympic Thread
NBC's coverage of the Olympics stinks, and yet I can't stop watching. I Tivo'd Friday night's coverage, and ended up blowing through 4 hours of broadcast time in 1.5 hours. It was the best way to watch, hands-down. I admit to getting sucked in to the human interest story about the 1996 women's gymn...

This article covers the official response as to "why grey": http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/olympics-fourth-place-medal/why-team-usa-medal-winners-wearing-gray-podium-135513669--oly.html I love those jackets. I want one. For $450, you can look like a medalist too! http://www.finishline.com/store/catal...

I like the medals, but really, USA... Re: The Official "Good Night" Thread
I am having so much fun watching the Olympics. I can't believe it's time to go to bed. I wish I didn't have to go to work in the morning so that I could stay up all night watching this stuff (although I'm so grateful for the work). Does everyone feel this way about the Olympics? Good night! :9f: Ye...

Wow, CathyCA, I totally love how you've embraced Sam's current passion and are putting so much into helping him explore! He's a wonderfully blessed young man.

"Can I ask you a question?"
1) You just did.
2) Obviously, you can, but may you?

Re: LTE 2.0
I'm teaching myself to use a relational database (via EasyPhp) to manage my research data instead of using a spreadsheet. It's fun but rather slow. And I'm frequently wishing I had learned all this stuff earlier but that's not what my profs were into. So that's been my day so far. Yay, fun!! :happy...

Re: Go to Duke. For free!!
https://www.coursera.org/#course/behavioralecon Ooh, who wants to take this with me? Conveniently, it starts up at the end of the basketball season. Dan Ariely is a very interesting author, I bet his course is pretty fascinating (if you're in to that sort of thing.) Maybe this would be a better star...

Re: CTN vibes for Devil in the Blue Dress Mom
Mom fell out of her bed this morning. I met her at the ED of Wake Forest Baptist Health for what became a 12 hour marathon. She has several broken ribs and very painful bruising especially in her left arm and wrist (no breaks shown in X-rays) and badly banged up knee and knee cap (OUCHY). NO concus...
Re: LTE 2.0
Our anniversary is in a month and my husband and I were trying to decide how to celebrate. The two current options are to go to a local chocolate truffle shop or gun range--we've never gone to either. I'm kind of hoping for both, but he likes to surprise me. So we'll see. Shooting at truffles? Fun!...

Loaded up a 17' truck and 4 cars today to move son and future DIL to Winston-Salem in all-time record tying 105 degree heat (it was also a record setting 6th consecutive day of 100 degree temps or more since WWII when there were 5 recorded days in a row with temps this steamy). Only gonna be 94 tom...
Re: LTE 2.0
Does Future-DA like books? Our little guy pays attention for 2 pages and then wants to play with it as a physical object.--turn pages, chew edges, etc. This is very different from his bookwormy sister. She's more amenable to being read to in the morning, and she will let me get through a whole book...
Re: LTE 2.0
At 2 1/2 Ruthie is walking up and down steps without holding on (although we prefer that she does), talks in full sentences (although I can't understand all of her words), she can sing her ABC's and she can spell her name - R U T H spells Ruth! And she likes to type when I'm sitting at the computer...
Re: LTE 2.0
Oh, and did I mention that futureDA is now a toddler!? Toddlers are such a fun, such a very busy age. Henry Joseph is still a crawler and pulling up. He is into everything. Granddaughter Donna said "It's ridiculous" Let me tell you, he is so much easier than his mother and Uncle Josh were. Now, the...
