Re: The Political Junkie Thread
Congratulations to Cory Booker for making the longest inconsequential speech of all time. Yapping for 24 hours and 18 minutes, nobody will remember what he talked about, if they even knew in the first place. How fitting he did it on April Fools Day. I’ll remember that as Booker closed in on the rec...

I didn’t watch either. Instead, I attended the Huntington Beach City Council meeting and took advantage of the 60 seconds* allotted to each citizen to denounce the all-MAGA Council and support Chris Kluwe. 47 citizens spoke up, and my guess is that 30 were on my side. It fell on deaf ears with this...

I didn't watch Trump's speech last night, and I'm glad I didn't, because it might've killed me. It was fatal for this newly installed Congressman. Texas Rep. Sylvester Turner, the former mayor of Houston, has died suddenly at 70 years old, just two months after joining Congress. ... According to Wh...

Re: You can't make this stuff up!
Here’s my favorite, it happened while I was living in nearby Key West. A Florida Keys woman, whose license had been suspended, was driving to meet her boyfriend who was getting out of jail. For some reason, her ex-husband was in the passenger seat. (I guess he’s a really good sport.) She wanted to l...

I want to encourage others to attend town halls and local council meetings, even if the representative, Senator or council is already on your side. The Chris Kluwe speech at my city council meeting should be an inspiration for all of us to get out there and be heard, even if the council just rolled ...

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
The entire federal government is basically becoming twitter/x. The country is going to pay the consequences for all of it. But of course the morons who voted for him will believe him when he blames everyone else for it. Yes, they will blame anyone other than Trump. Their identity is too wrapped up ...

WTF? A federal "freeze" on all federal grants and loans, announced late last night (as far as I can tell so far) and effective at 5:00 today? That's not even possible, but is also just a complete violation of law. I hope we get a court to issue an injunction immediately. Good lord, this man is evil...

Among other cuts, Hair Furor has halted all funding for the infrastructure bill. No more funding for ongoing highway repairs, new bridges, etc. That fiber optic cable hasn’t made it to your house yet? TS. He also cut all ACA-related funding to states. You thought Obamacare needed to be repealed but...

Today marked the end of post WW2 consensus opposition to fascism. We’re in some dark times now. IMG_5312.png Yup. It is so sad that so much of America feeds off of this anger, nastiness and hatred. They would argue that the rest of us are doing the same thing towards Trump, but it is not the same. ...

I agree that it’s a good move, but I don’t have faith that it’s an effective move. Hair Furor will find its way to vengeance.

The people who want to invade Greenland say it’s too cold to stay outside for the inauguration. LOL. I'm still trying to figure out how he is going to make this indoor inauguration work with his obsession with having the biggest. crowds. ever. "I had the biggest crowd ever at an indoor inauguration...

What is Hair Furor’s endgame with Greenland? Is it a distraction from his New York sentencing or from upcoming confirmation hearings? A way to demonstrate to Putin and Netanyahu that he has expansionist desires too? There has to be money in it for him … but where?

4-18 over the last 22 games dating back to last season. The wheels really fell off. I’m saddened for the man. He didn’t seem like a good fit when he was hired but really did a good job.

I just watched the House vote on the CR. No Democrat voted against it, but they clearly hung back before casting their votes in favor. The Dem votes dribbled in slowly while some GOP members were quick to vote Nay. Ultimately, Dem votes outnumbered GOP.
Johnson won and lost at the same time.
