Re: The Political Junkie Thread

Putting this here in hopes that one of you can help: I have heard of an app that shares news stories with an indicator of the political leaning of the source. I can’t remember the name of that app. It’s not the one started by Chris Evan’s (A Starting Point), it’s more recent. Does this ring any bel...

My ultimate fantasy is for him to reopen Alcatraz and then end up living there. And all of the people from San Francisco who he despises so much can visit him and stand outside his cell and make him miserable.
I would move back to San Francisco so I could visit frequently.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread

I don't think that Trump has signed a single bill of legislative consequence yet. Everything he has done has been by executive order. Per Heather Cox Richardson, Trump has signed 5 bills: the Laken Riley Act, which was passed before his inauguration, a stopgap funding bill, and three resolutions ov...

Re: The Political Junkie Thread

This will get lost in the news because the shrinking economy and opinion polls will dominate, and then we’ll move on to the next horror, but this April 28 Executive Order is the first attempt to create a military police state. It may be dismissed as hot air and illegal, but each mention normalizes t...

It is amazing Duke suffers zero transfers and speaks volumes about the culture Jon Scheyer is building.
Agreed! We’ve got ourselves a coach to be proud of.

JD Vance killed the Pope. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

He probably was Francis' last straw.
The Pope lost the will to live after meeting JD Vance.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread

I’m happy to see posts by people here and in other social media who are taking part in protests. We got 5 friends who had never protested in their lives to join us yesterday. People are coming together to do something.

Re: Duke Men's Basketball '24-'25 (35-4, FINAL FOUR!)

I remember when a "Coming Back" announcement was for players who might have gone to the NBA, not to another school. I remember it like it was yesterday, because it was yesterday. Good news, but still.... Yeah, times, they are a‘changing. I just saw that no one at Baylor made a similar announcement....

Harrumph. 620. :9f: I missed the origin of this. What's the countdown to? And good morning. I don’t know that I ever said, tbh. 620 days from today is Christmas, 2026. I will have my 30 years in on January 2, 2027, so my thought is to try to survive until Christmas, take a week of vacation, and get...

Re: The Political Junkie Thread

I am horrified by what’s going on and sad because it has all been so predictable. I noticed the rise of fascism when the Tea Party came into existence in 2009. I don’t know what else can be done besides calling our elected officials every day and protesting when possible and of course voting if we ...

Re: The Political Junkie Thread

I don’t see how this is not market manipulation. Yup. I wish that when the Dems had more control they had been more aggressive about putting through legislation about insider trading by government officials. Granted, I'm sure most of those who are profiting off of those are not government people bu...

Re: The Political Junkie Threa

I was given points then banned for a week OY for posting something no worse than what anyone else posted in the thread about Maluach: "This is attacking a relatively minor issue in way too big of a way. Who cares if it impacts many other people, even for a brief period of time? Talk about making a ...
