Re: World Cup 2014
Still wondering whether the German momentum will carry them across the finish line or if the semifinal was too easy for them. Of course Argentina has their own emotional momentum from their game. They also have one less day of rest than Germany.

Re: World Cup 2014
There are a few interesting storylines to watch in the third place game. Apparently if Vorm plays for the Netherlands, then their entire squad will have made an appearance in the tournament. Of course there are a number of players on both sides who are almost certain to be in position to play their ...

Re: World Cup 2014
So Germany... I kind of get the 2003 Kansas vibe after today. Like they could have eased through the semifinal almost too much and then will somehow be surprised in the final. Some interesting tactical things about the Germans. They had Khedira pressing high up the field a lot today and left Kroos s...

Re: World Cup 2014
The "eccentric" goalkeeper is a fairly common thing although in this case Krul was just pretending and not quite as crazy as Barthez or Higuita or those guys. Tomorrow's game is quite interesting with the two absences for Brazil putting them at a severe disadvantage. While they can use their defensi...

Re: World Cup 2014
Like I said, if Germany changed it up, they would have the advantage and they returned to their more traditional 4-2-3-1 then scored their goal by beating one of France's young central defenders. Tomorrow opens up with Argentina and Belgium. Argentina always has high expectations, but Belgium's infl...

Re: World Cup 2014
The OY World Cup thread has basically gone off the rails, so I figured I might as well post my thoughts on the actual upcoming games here. France vs Germany: France has looked pretty solid in this tournament so far while one gets the feeling that Germany had a great opening performance and has not l...

Should Have Made it an Official Bet
You never know what sorts of things will be said in the moment in Section 21. Sometime last season I wondered aloud where Tyler, Josh, and Todd might be able to play next year. devildeac said that he would bet that none of the three would ever play pro ball. Today, news broke that Josh has signed wi...
