Re: So people want to know why I'm so stressed?

It's because I don't even get the fucking "B" team to assist me at work... if it's a good day they might qualify as the "C" team. Why do I check email on the weekends? Why? Especially after a freaking week off? Seriously? There is a person that works for me that does things half way. Half ass. Does...

Re: What To Do With My Life (Professionally)

Sorry for the delayed response, I was off at my parent's place yesterday for Easter dinner. I feel for you, colchar. Several thoughts: 1) The tenure or lectureship demands vary with each position out there. I was raised in two top tier research institutes, and worked in another one, before finding t...

Re: What To Do With My Life (Professionally)

In the meantime, there is but one question; Do you love working, researching, and writing your topic? In all honestly, no. I was enthused about it when I started but am less and less so now. In a nutshell (and my apologies for copying and pasting this from a PM between myself and another poster ear...

I'd thought of that before grad school and decided it wasn't for me. Had I known though, I would've gone to law school.

Re: The 10PM Toast

I'd like to toast all my friends whom I've met through DBR, and whom I've continued that friendship with here on our new site. Even though I haven't met the majority of you in real life, none of you are "imaginary" or "fake" to me. Though we may converse within unconventional means, the words we sa...

What To Do With My Life (Professionally)

So I've pretty much decided that I am sick to death of doing my PhD (I finished my comps a while ago and am currently ABD). I really don't have the motivation anymore, especially because the job market for academics sucks. Schools, at least here in Canada, are increasing their graduate enrollment (b...

Re: The Doors - Do You Like Their Music?

I like them in moderated doses. After a while I get an organ infection. Wait...that doesn't sound right. Organ infection inappropriate content... suggestive material... infraction points... oh, wait a minute, wrong board ;) he's an admin, he can get away with it. Or at least he could over on ...

I used to be a huge Doors fan when I was younger but only listen to them occasionally now. I still like them, just not to the degree that I used to.

Or an ear for the "psssssssssssssst" of a co2 release. I love that sound. I just returned from the beer store and have heard that particular sound three times in the last 20 minutes. I am usually a rye drinker and only drink beer occasionally (usually while in Britain) but, since these beers were f...

Wow. Your comments caused me to check my percentile and it seems I'm in the 98th (that only translates to being 4407th overall though!). I'm shocked by that. Tilly is probably in roughly the same place as me.

I also just noticed that we're approaching 700 posts on this forum. Not bad when you consider that we've only been live since Wednesday night. Then again, we are likely one of the greatest collections of shameless PWs around.
