Re: The Official Anna Paquin Appreciation Thread
I'm down for the distinction since her father is Canadian, but I can't agree (yet) that I would be Chinese just because I were born in China. I believe that standpoint over simplifies the concept of nationality. Doesn't cultural heritage have an influence? Of course cultural heritage has an influen...

Re: The Official Anna Paquin Appreciation Thread
She's Canadian - she was born in Winnipeg. She grew up in New Zealand, but was created here! Created by parents, well at least a mother, who was from New Zealand. If my parents created me, and I were born in China, does that make me Chinese? By birth yes, you would be Chinese. She was born in Canad...

Re: Tea Parties
Actually, I'm a conservative (well the Canadian version which would likely make me a Democrat in the US). I just find it funny that some Americans think Obama is a socialist when he's anything but. How is he anything but a socialist? Does he advocate state or worker ownership of the means of produc...

Re: Tea Parties
1. I should state upfront that I view the "tea bagging" to be disingenuous as advertised. It wasn't about taxes or spending. It was about Republicans not liking Democrats. That's fine, but don't take a partisan political event and try to dress it up as a principled protest. Where was the outrage fr...

There is no need for that. So long as we remain civil and don't attack each other I have no problem with political discussions.rockymtn devil wrote:

This is a pre-emptive post. I know that both colchar and bluedeviljay are on opposite sides of the political fence. Please remember to keep this civil. We are adults, let's continue to act like adults. Actually, I'm a conservative (well the Canadian version which would likely make me a Democrat in ...

Re: The Official Anna Paquin Appreciation Thread
I may have to reconsider my vote in my own poll. I have a huge crush on Anna Paquin. She is now my favorite Canadian-born New Zealand actress. ^:)^ As EJ will attest, Canadian women are HOT!!! She's a kiwi though. ;-) I can happily give some credit to Canada for her demeanor and personality. She is...

Re: Hangovers
Hmmm. Is most Scotch single-malt? And, what is the difference? single malt is from a single distillery - all scotch starts life as single malt. Blendeds are made from the product of different distilleries. Scotch's flavor is impacted by the type of water, the casks, and the strain of barley to name ...

They are the little things with some kind of shell that immediately roll up into a ball when you pick them up. Turns out they are a Woodlouse.

Re: How many teeth do you have?
I once had a student have all 6 of hers removed. I've had four of my six removed. The fifth is out (ie. through the gums) and causes no problems. The sixth is too far up in my cheek for them to get at it and they say there is no point in getting rid of it as doing so carries the potential of caving...

Here is the original summary by Earljam. Perhaps we can fill in the blanks... A quick summary: -Where's my wallet? -Shot off the highway -Class of '68? -Saliva and elevators -Pickle's Pub -Bad deals -June Bug, the wheelchair stalker -The one-armed bandit (a.k.a., Lefty, no wait.....Righty) -A baseb...
Re: Hangovers
Any known cures that work for that, or for any aspect of hangovers? Hydration, Advil, etc. don't help with the next day fatigue/mental haze... There is a Scottish pop called Irn Bru that is a hangover sure (figures). If you get the stuff made in North America it doesn't work but if you can get your...
Re: Hangovers
I will have to find the DBR recap he posted. It was not pretty. But, a shitload of fun. Please do. I think I remember it but would love to read it again. Have you tried switching away from rye to one of the clear liquors? I used to drink vodka but switched to rye about eight years ago. I don't thin...
